If all the (expensive) Ace Combat 6 downloadable content has kept you flying the Liberation skies then this day you should notice a title update pop-up the next time you take off for the skies. The game enhancing (buzz words FTW!) update will make a few minor modifications to AC6’s online play as well as a few HUD changes. All in all, it’s a lovely title update that should make “pew, pew, pew”ing aircrafts even more enjoyable than it already is. And because we care, a complete list of title update changes can be viewed after the break.

Update: The GRAW 2 Co-Op Collection 2 downloadable content is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400MS Points weighing in at 976MB.
Original Story: Time for your confusing story of the day children. This day, Ubisoft’s London office sent out a media alert letting the press know that the second anticipated GRAW 2 Co-op Collection pack has been released onto Xbox LIVE for 400 MS Points.
The only thing is, it hasn’t. Scouring Xbox Live Markeplace, at the time of this article, there’s no sign of any downloadable co-op pack for the Tom Clancy-based hit — other than the original co-op collection package. Loyal X3F Army soldiers will remember this isn’t the first time Ubisoft’s UK office jumped the gun on a GRAW 2 announcement.
It looks like the release was premature, but it does answer some of the questions we had regarding the latest DLC for the critically acclaimed title. After releasing the first co-op collection for the hefty asking price of 800MS Points, Ubisoft throws out the latest expansion installment for half-price but doesn’t skimp on the content. Adding five co-op missions that continue the story of the original DLC, 9 adversarial maps — 7 remade from other games in the series and 2 new creations, and 8 brand new accomplishments to pad your gamerscore.
We’re waiting anxiously in the wings for Ubisoft to remind us that the shooter-war isn’t just a two pony race. As soon as we learn the content has hit LIVE we’ll let you know.

We thought we were in the clear regarding the controversy that surrounded both the hard drive’less Xbox 360 Core and Arcade models, but we’ve come to accept that sensitive topics like this will never die.
In a recent chat with CVG, Bourne Conspiracy lead designer Rory McGuire flat out stated that Microsoft made a “mistake” with their decision to not make a hard drive mandatory in all Xbox 360 models. McGuire told CVG that “in retrospect I wish Microsoft had made the choice to have [mandatory] hard drives like Sony did with the PS3.” McGuire further went on to explain the development advantages of having a HDD saying that “if you’ve a hard drive, the whole game loads faster. Obviously you’ll be facing a short install time, but the developer benefits from it and you definitely benefit from it as a player.” Take that Microsoft!
On second analysis, it’s entirely possible that Microsoft could make HDDs mandatory in all Xbox 360 consoles by axing the Arcade and taking out another $1.9 billion hit to ship 20GB HDDs to Core and Arcade owners. Makes sense to us.

After being passed over due to failed certification tests, Skype on PSP will finally land in the hands of Japanese gamers on March 18, PSP Fanboy reports. The Japanese version of the Slim-PSP-only service launches a month later than the North American version, defying our normal expectations of how these things go.
The day after the firmware launch, a new Skype-optimized USB microphone atttachment for the PSP will be released for 2,500 yen (or two for 4,000). Expect a sudden surge in Japanese gamers yelling at their PSPs shortly thereafter.

GameTap posted a preview of Grimm, its upcoming 24-part episodic adventure taking the cheery Disney-fied fairy tales we all know and bringing them back closer to the source material. Each episode will release weekly and have approximately 30 minutes of gameplay focusing on one fairy tale. The episode will begin with the “contemporary perspective” of the fairy tale told in puppet show form, narrated by the main character Grimm (seen above). After Grimm goes out into the world and does his thing, the end of each episode will have another puppet show telling the story a little closer to the original version with a little bit of McGee’s touch.
The gameplay involves Grimm running around and turning the bright cheery landscape into a macabre world, basically the opposite of De Blob. After a majority of the level is transformed Grimm can move on to other challenges, which include platform gameplay, secret areas, hidden items and more. What we still don’t know is if the difficulty will curve up in each weekly episode or if it will get progressively harder as it goes along (meaning by episode 20 it could take hours to finish due to restarts instead of 30 minutes). Grimm begins telling tales in July on GameTap.

It’s all in the title, really. If you’re curious about the artistic direction behind Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds or just want to check out some more cutesy golf action, feel free to watch. You’ll learn about the new shot system. How is it more “realistic” than previous iterations of the franchise? You’ll know, when you watch the video with Clap Hanz’ lead artist on the project, Keisuke Futami.

SCEA has had a rather stellar lineup of games in 2007. On PS3, gamers were treated to titles, such as Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank. On PSP, gamers could enjoy Syphon Filter and Jeanne d’Arc. Even the PS2 got some love, with God of War II and some strong ports of PSP titles. Sure, it’s had it’s share of stinkers (what publisher doesn’t?), but it managed to ideal the industry with the most critically acclaimed lineup of the year.
Next-Gen’s Matt Matthews sorted through GameRankings data in order to gather his findings. What was undoubtedly a tiresome process becomes a fascinating read. Notice the incredible absence of prolific publishers, such as Ubisoft and Midway on this chart? Why? They’re pretty far down the list.
Phil Harrison, who is moving from Sony Europe to Atari, will have quite a task at hand. Atari currently stands with a 55.5% average. We wonder if Harrison’s Atari will be able to compete against the offerings of Sony and its various Personal Entertainment first-party divisions. We doubt it.

Well, this one comes as a surprise … okay, not really. Amazon has the abysmal Turok listed on sale for US$39.99. If you order now, you’ll get a free copy of the game’s strategy guide. While a guide sounds like a nice incentive, it would take much more than that scant extra to entice a purchase from us.
You know, doesn’t this really makes you wonder how bad this game really is? Consider it, the game gets a third of the price slashed off within only a sliver over a month into the game’s release. Our review sums it up: “Unfortunately, as it stands right now, this is a rather flawed game that hides the truly clever mechanics the team was attempting.” Any brave souls willing to take this offer up?
[Thanks, Trevor!]
