We envision the deal went something like this:
“So, you guys made Guitar Hero, huh? Sounds like a perfect match for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
“Well, no actually. We just bought the name. Oh, and did I mention we’re loaded!”
“Sold!”
The end result of that (imaginary) exchange is that Activision looks to further embed itself in the annals of rock, as the company has announced that it has become a sponsor of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Specifically, Activision will be sponsoring the museum’s exhibit featuring famous guitarists (surprise!), and also will sponsor the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Cermony being held on March 10. Finally, Hall of Fame visitors will soon be able to play “the latest and greatest” version of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero III (and presumably future iterations once they’re released) on demo kiosks at the museum. At the rate Activision is going, the curators might soon find themselves displaying more versions of Guitar Hero than actual exhibits.

We got a tip from Lionhead’s community manager Sam about a new “developer blog” post, ostensibly one about Fable 2 prostitutes. You can see the sole image of stated prostitutes above (and in high resolution here). Suffice it to say that the image above was seemingly the only article in the blog entry that actually concerned Fable 2’s development. The text, on the other hand, is devoted to recounting Lionhead’s liquid soap shortage and the resulting lack of hand washing, which is apparently causing a bit of panic. We don’t want to spoil it for anyone, as it really should be read in its entirety. Just to whet your appetite then, an excerpt: “The people with the muckiest hands have become the leaders in this new order. “Make my tea or sniff my fart fingers” is a common threat from the artists.”
Remember when Lionhead was asking for people to submit insults for Fable 2? We’d state “sniff my fart fingers” just rocketed to the top of the list. Hit the “read” link for the full blog entry.

Universe at War: Earth Assault, the upcoming SEGA published and Petroglyph Games developed title, is yet another real-time strategy game being shoehorned into a console control scheme. The difference between UaW:EA and other console-ported RTS titles is the inclusion of cross-platform play with the, already released, Computer version — a first for a third-party publisher. While on the surface UaW:EA seems complex, the Starcraft-esque three-different factions system, showcases the title’s simplicity and accessibility.
The three factions, the Novus, Hierarchy and Masari are absolutely different in nearly every respect and should make re-playability (other than on the internet modes) one of the strongest bullet-points on the retail package. While we’re a fan of the PC version, we wonder how the Xbox 360 version will control and what the balance will be when the Personal computer crowd goes head-to-head with the Xbox 360 crowd.
Universe at War: Earth Assault is set to his retail on March 25, 2008 for the Xbox 360. Above is the trailer for the Novus faction, Hierarchy and Masari trailers await you after the jump.

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate a drunken Spring break party than by rocking out to a few Rock Band sessions with some friends in Panama City, Florida. And wouldn’t you know, we aren’t alone.
From March 1st through the 22nd, the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Panama City along with MTV have setup a Rock Band stage on the beach and in the hotel’s Club LaVela’s Rock Room inviting Spring break visitors to rock out. Anyone willing enough can take the stage, jam to their favorite tunes and earn Xbox 360 gear as well as hundreds of loyal fans. That’s, if you can rock. Also, from March 8th through the 14th, mtvU will be setting up an Xbox 360 gaming lounge at the Boardwalk Beach Resort for Spring breakers to play Rock Band or challenge their friends to a few games of Halo 3. Musical group Bang Camaro will also be holding a concert at the hotel on March 14th. We think it’s safe to say that Rock Band is the hardcore partyer’s video game of choice. Now drink up and pass the Stratocaster!

A new track pack for Guitar Hero III is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Entitled the Modern Metal pack, the new DLC includes three new tracks from the Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold, and Thrice. As an added bonus, all three tracks are master tracks. The tracks, which will run you 500 MS Points, are as follows:
In addition to the Modern Metal pack, Activision has also announced that a special pack is in the works for St. Patrick’s Day later this month. The pack will include songs by the Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. The three (master) tracks that will be available on the pack are “Famous for Nothing,” “(F)lannigan’s Ball” and “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya.” Ideal of all, the track pack will be free. Anticipate it to arrive (you guessed it) sometime before St. Patrick’s Day.

Hot on the heels of our own video hands-on with Dark Sector comes brand new footage of the game’s multiplayer mode. As we mentioned in our own video, Dark Sector’s multiplayer is fairly very special among shooters. Those who have followed the game know that its protagonist, Hayden, has some very special supernatural powers, most notably his biological throwing blade. Rather than pitting a bunch of Haydens against one another, Dark Sector’s multiplayer focus on pitting a group of normal soldiers against a single Hayden (or Hayden and another enhanced character in the case of team games). Hayden has the ability to create a shield or turn himself invisible, which gives him a much needed advantage against an entire squad of soldiers. Whoever takes Hayden down gets to play as him during the next round. We’ve played it and it works really well. Check out the new video after the break.

UK retailer Play.com just let slip some release date details for the not so four player co-op LEGO: Indiana Jones. Simply put, the game should release sometime around June 6th.
LEGO: Indy’s release date details were leaked via Play.com’s recently announced Play.com Live event where, in their press release, revealed that LEGO: Indy would be playable at the event and that the game would be “on sale June 6th on all consoles”. Using that nugget of knowledge, Eurogamer contacted Activision who refused to comment on the June release date, but they then confirmed with their “Top Secret Senior Games Industry Source” that the June release is indeed fact. So, although it isn’t the official word from Acti, one could anticipate to experience LEGO boulder running this June.

Ironically enough Bully has been one of the industry’s main whipping boys since it was first introduced on the PlayStation 2 in 2006. While the current misinterpretation of the sexual content within Mass Effect has been an industry hot topic in this generation of consoles, the assumptions made about the content in Bully prior to its release were laughably off-kilter.
At one point in the controversy industry antagonist, Jack Thompson, argued on G4’s The Loop that Bully was a “Columbine Simulator,” oblivious to the fact that the ultimate goal of the game is end bullying at Bullworth Academy — the featured location in the game. While the sandbox nature of the game grants players to be just as much as an advocate against bullies as it grants them to be the ultimate poster child, the internal rules of the game harshly punishes picking on female characters or smaller children.
With the current release of Bully: Scholarship Edition, gamers are treated to a HD upgrade of the controversial title — or so they thought. Reports are swirling that multiple glitches and game freezing bugs are hindering the enjoyment of the hd-revamp. NeoGAF members have compiled a list of various sources to support the widespread issue.
In response, a horrified Rockstar pinned the issues on older Xbox 360 models and assures fans the issue was never caught during quality assurance tests and not the product of a quick release cash grab. The full statement from Rockstar’s Sam Houser can be found after the jump.

Just like XBLA, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is the only new game offering on PSN this week. Sure, there’s the Rock Band and GHIII DLC, but its a pretty tame week overall. Now, for those with access to the Japanese PSN it’s a different story. Those people should go grab echochrome immediately and twist their brains, Escher-style.
Check out the complete list of this week’s content after the break. Wondering what the Europeans got? Take a little trip down the yellow brick road to PS3 Fanboy. %Gallery-2571%
