Dracula 3 was announced last year, but it seems it mostly flew under the radar (perhaps due to the waning popularity of PC games that are not World of Warcraft.) I still enjoy gaming on my Personal computer when there are games available, not to mention I’m a sucker for some good old fashioned horror, so I was very pleased to see some crisp new screenshots pop up for this title. I threw the old screens in for good measure, since I couldn’t find a trace of the game in the Dtoid library.

Here’s a snippet about the latest installment in the series:

Mgr Arno Moriani, the “devil’s advocate”, is carrying out a canonization process, investigating in the interwar years a potential candidate for beatification in Transylvania. His investigation is quickly wrapped up. The strange stigmata on the corpse are not the hallmark of some divine power. In fact, the villagers see it as the “mark” of Count Dracula. The bishop decides to carry out his own investigation to determine once and for all whether the vampire truly exists. But the reality is deceiving. Fiction is powerful. Doubts arise. And doubt begets fear…

I actually forgot that this game was part of a series, since the last installment was way back in 2000 (Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary.) Dracula: The Resurrection was the first title in the series, launched back in 1999. I could go back in time and play those games, but I’ve to admit I’d rather wait for the new hotness. Dracula 3 is slated to come out around Christmas in 2008, so keep your garlic at the ready.

We’re very apologetic when we admit that none of us on staff at PS3 Fanboy really play sports titles. Especially when we hear such good things about MLB ‘08: The Show. Guilt, maybe. We’re missing out, but since it’s not our forte and would feel stupid for passing judgment on something we’re not particularly experienced with, we decided to give The Show a metareview instead of a full review. So, what are other sites saying about this game and how it stacks up compared to last year’s rendition? Take the jump to find out.

A couple of weeks ago, we helped unveil the first look at the upcoming expansion for Eye of Judgment, Biolith Rebellion 2. Since then, Sony has been slowly unveiling more and more juicy details about the new cards on their official blog. This day, we’re happy to present an interview with the creator of Eye of Judgment, Yusuke Watanabe.

How did you originally come up with the idea for The Eye of Judgment? Was it always planned as a PS3 game?

The trigger was a demo of the CyberCode’s image recognition technology, originally developed for use on Computer. We transplanted CyberCode to PlayStation format so I could share my surprise with as many users as possible. We worked with CyberCode based on the technical information of PlayStation 3 that, at the time, had just started becoming open, and based on the findings, we found that PS3 was the best console to maximize the potential and appeal of The Eye of Judgment in terms of the specifications.

Has Sony thought about releasing a higher quality gameboard? The fabric one is nice but is lacking for people who play on the ground or uneven surfaces.
Through a trial and error process using many kinds of materials, the fabric material was the only mat that cleared our standards for endurance, storability, design, and cost. However, we’re very interested in creating a high quality luxury mat or board to encourage heated matches.

As you could probably deduce from the subject line, Nyko has unleashed their third-party rumble and motion controller upon the world. Before we even get our hands on a first celebration controller (besides importing), no less. So, if you really want to, you can buy the wireless monstrosity pictured above. It retails for $59.99, which is $5 more than the DualShock 3 will retail at. (Note: It’s currently $50 on amazon.com.) It’s your call, but for some people the size might actually be a plus. For you see, some people are used to handling giant tools in their hands. And by tools we, of course, mean controllers.

Anticipate a full hands-on shortly.

Rejoice, karaoke fans! Sony has come through on its promise to add an extra 67 songs to the SingStar SingStore. The new songs are up right now, ready for you to spend your hard earned cash on. We’ve plonked the full list of songs after the break for you to check out in case you didn’t see them before. Also, you might be prompted to update SingStar to version 1.10. We don’t know what it does, or how long it’s been out, but it seems to have cleared up our connection problems with the game. Score two for SCEE!

Insomniac’s darling FPS is returning later this year. Expect it to be far more involving than the previous effort. Insomniac has mastered the PS3 tech, and will churn out some jaw-dropping visuals and some truly realistic animation. Watch this motion capture video, being used in Insomniac’s upcoming FPS. It’s silly, yes — but it’s the kind of stuff that needs to be done when making a game. Make sure you watch it in HD, to appreciate everything that’s happening across all six of these cameras.

After hopping onto the XBLM this morning, we were surprised to come across new downloadable content for none other than The Darkness. Odd, no? The new DLC can be found under the “New Releases” section of the Marketplace under the not so convenient title “Darkness MP Map: DM_Haunt” (uhh, wha?). The content features the multiplayer map DM_Haunt which is set in the streets of New York City, a new death match and team death match game mode as well as the capability to customize your shapeshifter, darkling or human character. The ideal part about the DLC is the fact that it is 100% free. Worst part about the DLC is that it’s for The Darkness’ multiplayer of which we don’t know of anyone who has played it in the last three months. Oh well, free content is free content.
