thatgamecompany, the developers behind flOw and the upcoming flOwer have started a regular feature on the PlayStation.Blog showcasing their game development skills. The 24 Hour Game Jam projects are exactly as they sound - thatgamecompany will develop a small, playable game within a 24 hour time limit. The main objective? To produce something fun. That’s what games are all about, right?

The first 24 Hour Game Jam project is a title named Gravediggers and is a multiplayer deathmatch game where you’ve to collect the skulls of zombies and deposit them in crypts to gain points while avoiding other gravediggers who will kill you for your skull collection. Sound like fun? It looks even more so. There’s probably no chance that we’ll see any of these Game Jam projects being released to the public, but we have the ability to wish. Our favourite part? The sound effects. “Wise from your gwave” hasn’t gotten old since we first played Modified Beast all those years ago.

So here’s another one of those “blame videogames for screwing up our kids” kind of stories. This time, a British tween had the unfortunate run-in with a picture of a crude gamer’s buttocks in Burnout Paradise. Apparently, the takedown pics that get swapped each time a player gets knocked out didn’t feature the gamer’s face, but his unlovable backside — yes, the dimples were on the other cheeks.

You naughty Paradise players … what are you guys doing? Seriously though, the kid isn’t traumatized or anything like that but the story was picked up by CBS TV which linked the story with on the internet pedophile practices — something absolutely out of context with the issue at hand. The point here folks, don’t go doing something so brash; your actions might be interpreted and misunderstood by others so much so that it may land you in trouble. Just keep it fun and clean. While this story would probably make parents more cautious about gaming, it isn’t as bad as another current controversy.

Alright, a swift disclaimer: this post isn’t about an Xbox 360 game. it is about a Wii game. Thank you. Now, if you own a Wii (and some of us do here at X3F), chances are you’ve picked up (or plan on picking up) Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If you have done this, you’ll know that it is one of the few games that supports on the internet play. If you know that, you probably know that it does not support any kind of voice chat. So, how do we fix that? With Xbox Live of course! After the break we have come up with a swift guide for getting your Brawl on complete with voice chat.

If officially licensed guitar peripherals aren’t your thing (just too mainstream for you) then we may have found an ultra-risky third celebration option for you. Enter some random Chinese manufacturer’s Wireless Guitar Controller for all your “X 360 guitar games”.

Sporting a “working” whammy bar, five multi-colored frets and a d-pad that looks like a black hole … how could you go wrong? Heck, even the guitar’s wireless functionality is one-of-a-kind as it requires a baby monitor sized USB wireless adapter to fully rock out. Best of all, it isn’t licensed by Rock Band or Guitar Hero, so your guess is as good as ours to whether it’ll actually function or not. Also note that if you actually buy one of these sad excuses for guitars, then expect to be whacked over the head with a NERF bat. Rock on!

Ubisoft seems to be pairing up with everyone these days to promote the upcoming 10th Anniversary title in the Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Ubisoft and the Guinness World Records have teamed up to bring the gaming world the first official marathon session of multiplayer gaming, where a few gamers will get to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on Xbox 360 for a solid 24-hour stretch.

Taking part in the attempt will be the UK Frag Dolls (which are sponsored by Ubisoft): Jam, Kitt and Sarin. The attempt will take place in the UK from the March 21 - 24 where all 1,500 tickets to join in the fun live have already sold out. If the dolls are able to compete for a straight 24-hour session of gaming Guinness World Records will induct the event, Ubisoft and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 into the 2009 edition of the world-famous record catalog.

Gamers connected are invited to join in the fraggin’ fun over Xbox Live when the game launches later this month.

Earlier this day, SEGA announced that Football Manager 2008 has officially gone gold and just in time for the game’s promised March 28th release. With the gold news, SEGA also confirmed that Football Manager 2008 on the 360 will feature a few differences from last October’s PC release including an updated roster, Xbox Live support and new multiplayer modes allowing for global tournaments.

As you know, we here at X3F aren’t usually known for our soccer football enthusiasm, but for whatever reason, Football Manager 2008 has piqued our interest. We’re thinking it’s because of that candy cane inspired tie. Rock that tie! Rock it hard!

Now that they’ve sent Condemned 2 on its merry way, Monolith will now be focusing all its energy towards F.E.A.R.’s not-so sequel Project Origin and that crazy, crazy Alma.

IGN sat down and chatted with Project Origin lead designer John Mulkey to get the dirt on how development is progressing, what Monolith’s goals are with Origin and what we can look forward to. And the general theme we’re hearing is that Origin will take what was offered in F.E.A.R. and add more. More enemy types, more weapons, more locations and more variety. We can’t be sure if more variety will equal commercial success or if Origin will still be looked at as F.E.A.R. 1.5, but we can be sure that Monolith is confident and that gives us some comfort for now. Our only gripe thus far is the game’s “soft” and “flat” graphics, but maybe that’s just us being nit-picky.

While for many this week represents one game and one game only, we would be remiss if we didn’t point out that Condemned 2: Bloodshot is heading to stores as well (at least we think it is). Condemned was one of the ideal games of the Xbox 360 launch lineup and, based on what we’ve seen, Bloodshot looks to build upon its predecessor’s success. Also, football (the non-US kind) fans have something to be happy about in Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. Unfortunately, that’s all 360 fans get this week, so we hope you like beating people to a bloody pulp for no good reason or, if that’s not your thing, you can always pick up Condemned 2.
