Recently, MTV Multiplayer had a chance to sit down and chat Dead Space with senior producer Glen Schofield. And not only do we learn how awesomely cool Dead Space is, but we also learn that their dev team is comprised of some crafty bakers.
In their interview, Schofield mentioned that their team became so close throughout Dead Space’s dev cycle that they hosted an in-house Dead Space cake bake-off. Because, you know, nothing screams space alien murder like a sugary sweet cake. And, as you can see above, the bake-off was successful at not only producing rather gruesome looking Dead Space themed confections, but also at boosting the dev team’s blood sugar. We need to hold a cake bake-off … an X3F roxorz your soxorz themed baking challenge. Hmm, we’ll work on that. Stay tuned …

Last night, we were treated with the new Zerg intro trailer. Today, Blizzard has released a couple of new videos and pictures showing off the Zerg. Both of the new videos show off the Zerg units obliterating the Terrans. No new Zerg classes are shown, but at least we’re seeing the Zerg in a much superior quality compared to last night.

It seems information regarding Evolution Studios’ sequel to last year’s hit Motorstorm is finally surfacing. Some scans from the latest issue of OPM reveal not only the new locales featuring water, water everywhere, but monster trucks as drivable options. There’s more info in the scans uploaded by C.Birch on the PS3 Forums, waiting for you to read them. But the main points are thus: Water. Monster trucks. Driving. Apparently, dodging vehicles once you’re ousted from your own plays some kind of part, but we won’t know until we see more.

Here’s a slice of news pie that we wouldn’t mind gulping down with a tall glass of awesome. Everyone in the RPG business knows the rule: Japan gets the game about six months before any other area. Right? Maybe that won’t be the case anymore. Square Enix’s Yoichi Wada went on record recently, stating that they plan to start “making simultaneous releases the norm.”
Does this include PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII, or the multi-plat Last Remnant? It might. Due to the overwhelming strength of the gaming market outside of Japan, we’re seeing a shift in game release ideology. Either this means the US and Europe will get the aforementioned games earlier than expected, or Japan will get them later than anticipated. Who knows — maybe Square Enix really will begin opening up development offices outside of Japan.

Whether you want anime, a Will Smith blockbuster (your choice of two), a video game movie, or an Academy Award-winning masterpiece, Blu-ray has it for you:
Remember “Independence Day” back on VHS? Blu-ray’s going to look a heck of a lot better. Can’t wait.

Silly analysts, inciting flame wars with such trivial matters as a month of sales. Regardless, that’s exactly what simExchange is doing — claiming that in March, the PS3 will outsell the 360 in terms of sales. A first in the US for 2008, and only the second time in its lifespan. April will go to the 360 for sales, and so on, and so forth. Nintendo is assumed to keep a hefty lead on both, so there’s no confusion.
This back and forth bout between the two “hardcore” gaming consoles will continue, simExchange proposes, with shrinking gaps in sales between them until games with bigger on the web components like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Charlie Salt Lake City Alpha Dog Redux, Army of Two, and others get released because it’s assumed that Xbox Live carries more weight with those games. Basically, sales of the consoles are based on software that play to each console’s strength. We could’ve told you that from the begin. Check, please!

ThreeSpeech, Sony’s “semi-official” PlayStation 3 weblog has received a new lick of paint recently, you’ll be happy to hear. The site looks altogether much spiffier, with a wider page format and a countdown timer. A countdown to what, though? You don’t really have to be a rocket scientist to work out that when that timer reaches zero we’ll be treated to some sort of Motorstorm 2 coverage.
We were promised a trailer by French site JeuxVideo but it never materialized. Even if we hadn’t been given the blatant clue “a new breed of warrior will be born,” we would’ve expected to see the video appear whenever the timer runs out. You never know, though. We’ve been wrong before …

Stop walking the streets and asking total strangers if they want to trade Super Smash Bros. Brawl friend codes. Come inside, pull up a chair, and let us serve you with fresh, safe (and hopefully clean) codes all in one spot. Please think about this the place for the Joystiq community to drop their Brawl digits. A couple swift ground rules:
- All that’s required is the Brawl code and not your Wii digits. Please don’t post Wii code.
- This post is only for Brawl codes.
- This post is only for Brawl codes, seriously!
–Love, Joystiq
[Thanks to everyone that requested this post]
