In mid-February Capcom put a poll on their official site asking the community how much they’d be willing to pay, either $10 or $15, for the HD remake of Bionic Commando. Last Friday, Capcom dropped word that a whopping (and unsurprising) 83% of voters preferred a $10 price-point for the upcoming release and they would abide by the community’s demands. While making the announcement, game producer Ben Judd said that more than a few gamers stated they were willing to even more for HD bionic-arm action. ” A majority were suggesting they would pay $15 or even $20 for the game,” Judd wrote in the announcement post on the Bionic Commando Rearmed community blog. At a $10 price-point, Bionic Commando Rearmed is looking more and more like a must-buy when it hits Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.

THQ is on a mission to make the most realistic, most customizable and largest off-road racer ever and they think they’ve perfected the formula with recently announced Baja.
Being developed by the founding members of MX vs. ATV, Baja is being pitched as the creme-de-la-creme of off-road racers, featuring over 100 square miles of terrain, unparalleled realism, revolutionary physics and automobile customization galore. You can even blow out your tires! THQ also confirmed that Baja will makes its way to the Xbox 360 later this August. The only question left to ask is whether Baja will end up being just another off-road racer that promises the world and delivers more of the same or if it’ll actually be a pioneer of the genre. Only time will tell, but we’re feeling generous today and are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt … for now.

For those who still have yet to jump into the modern warfare battlefield, then we advise holding off on a Call of Duty 4 purchase for another month, because a new SKU will be hitting retail shelves soon.
Yesterday, Activision announced that they’ll be releasing a Call of Duty 4 Game of the Year edition which will feature updated box art as well as an Xbox Live redemption token to download this Spring’s upcoming multiplayer map DLC for free. A redemption token worth 800 Microsoft points. Acti didn’t mention a firm release date for this special GOTY edition or if it’ll be released on any other gaming platforms. And we hope it doesn’t. We’re greedy fanboys who want everything for ourselves.

Help! We need somebody! Help! No, seriously folks, Martin N. “Marty” Bandier of Sony / ATV Music Publishing has officially stated that a version of Guitar Hero dedicated to The Beatles is something the company would “like to pursue.” Now, we never intended to jump all over the “why isn’t this on Rock Band?” bandwagon. Some music really makes more sense on Guitar Hero, but The Beatles? That just screams Rock Band. Of course, we understand why Mr. Bandier might fancy Guitar Hero over Rock Band. We envision it’s money. That’s what he wants (that’s what he wants). A lot of money. But just imagine all the people that could play on Rock Band (we wonder if you can). With any luck, Mr. Kite Bandier and Harmonix can work it out and come together. We just hope they don’t make it bad. In the meantime, we’ll just have to let it be and hope they don’t let us down.

Last week’s European Xbox 360 price cut looks to have been a massive success with retailers seeing hardware fly off shelves in greater numbers over the weekend. 40% more 360 sales to be exact. Chart-Track’s 40% increase in 360 sales estimate is great news for team Redmond, but the increase in sales doesn’t equate to continued success seeing that the that it could potentially be the result of the Easter holiday. So, we’ll have to keep an eye on European 360 sales in the weeks to come to verify its success. All stated, Europe is happy to see a 360 price cut, retailers are happy to see a 360 price cut and Microsoft is happy to see a 360 price cut, because their sales have increased. Now only if they’d share the price cut love with us in good old North America … mmm?

A current survey released to Home beta participants asks what they’d like the Home Square to look like. The Square is the area which connects the various parts of Home. It’s already received one significant redesign over the life of the beta, and it looks like another one is forthcoming.
The survey offers a number of visual options, from a city center (D), to something a bit more alien (I). Looks like the results of this survey will help the Home team create something that Home users can really get into.

In a move that undoubtedly keeps the hype-train chugging on strong towards Metal Gear Solid 4, Konami is bringing the first Metal Gear Solid up on the Japanese PSN. The downloadable version of the game, good for the PS3 and PSP, will be available on March 21 with a 600 yen price tag. As of now, there’s no mention if other regions will be getting similar treatment. Here’s to wishful thinking!

It took some time, but it’s finally done it: Incognito’s online-only Warhawk has reached the 500,000 registered player mark. The game was an interesting and risky venture for Sony: would people pay to play a game without a single player component? Looks like the answer is “yes.”
Warhawk was the first game to take advantage of a new business model Sony is implementing in this generation. Warhawk is available on Blu-ray and as a downloadable. The $40 price point is high for a downloadable, but contains much more content than the average downloadable game.
We’re certain that Warhawk fans will be pleased by the news — Dylan Jobe stated that more DLC will come to the game “as long as the community exists.” It looks like it’s going quite strong.

Could Japan be receiving a new PS3 color for the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4? This magazine scan seems to recommend so. This Limited Edition system will come with a slightly grayed version of the console — perhaps to parallel how Snake has aged in the newest iteration of the franchise. It looks like Japan’s bundle includes a few bonuses — is that the Metal Gear Saga DVD?
These new Metal Gear bundles are a wise move on Sony’s part: this is undeniably a system seller. (Check out the US bundle here.) Update: These “steel” PS3 systems will include, as expected, a DualShock 3 controller as well.
[Thanks, CHK!]
