With the leaking of the screens earlier, the world was given it’s first glimpse of the new Sonic title, Sonic Unleashed. Now that we’ve all seen the screens, and debated on various elements from the platform (it seems theres still hope that this will be coming to the 360) to the gameplay, and now, not even a scant twelve hours after the initial leak, we have a YouTube of the thing in motion. Surprisingly the footage shows that the game looks to have some real promis. That’s, as long as the level design is good and the camera is kept in order. While it was said when the franchise re-launched in 2006, it looks like this could be the return to form that the Sonic franchise has needed for years.

What happened if you tried to play Halo 3 before it came out. Sorry for the sucky edits. I couldn’t get the music to play right.

As the final marketing push for the imminent release of GTA IV spins up to speed, Rockstar is giving out more and more media of the game. The latest is an update to the on the internet snippets of the in-game radio stations. There are now a total of 4 clips online, IF99, a funk station, Vladivostok, an eastern European station, K109, a disco station, and course WKTT. WKTT, which is the station embedded to the right, is an obvious parody of right-wing talk radio, and is definitely worth a listen for those with good senses of humor. The embedded player will cycle through all four stations as every one ends, so you can listen to them all if you like. The GTA IV site itself has spaces for at least eighteen different stations so we’re definitely going to be seeing the trademark variety of music present in the past GTA games.

After watching the latest “Swingset Trailer” for Monolith’s upcoming Project Origin, we have absolutely no doubt that the Lith are experts at creating crazy, twisted and completely freaky experiences. Then again, have we ever doubted them? Go ahead, give the latest Project Origin trailer a looksy and try to tell us Alma doesn’t send a chill up your spine or that the swingset doesn’t freak you out. Yeah, we’ve been harsh on Project Origin because of its “dated” graphics, but when it comes to building tension and absolutely messed up story lines … well, Lith gets our seal of approval.

Discovered by some intrepid forum posters, and originating from a Sega FTP site, is this collection of images contains what appear to be screenshots of the just discovered Sonic Unleashed. It is of course unknown whether or not these are actually from that game, but the timing seems right, and these images do appear to be in-game, as evidenced by the clipping visible in this shot here. So whatever it is, it’s up and running (pun not intended).

As for the shots themselves, they’re really clean and have a Blue Dragon quality about them. With locations ranging from Africa to Eggman’s lair, and no signs of Sonic’s “city” (cursing by rhyme…) friends, could we be seeing signs of a good Sonic game on the horizon? Possibly, if the lack of subtitles is pointing to a more “Subspace Emissary” take on the Sonic cutscenes, with a total lack of dialog, just using animation to tell the story (also similar to the Lego games). The only downside right now appears to be the gameplay screens, which hint at a Sonic and the Secret Rings style of gameplay. At the moment there is still no word as to the platform this will land on, but if it’s following the footsteps of Secret Rings, we may have to end up handing this one off.

The Castle Crashers news keeps on flowing from The Behemoth’s recently launched dev blog with news of weapon count and another playable character getting the “big reveal” treatment.

Today, we learn that Castle Crashers will feature 40 (count ‘em), 40 different unlockable weapons to dish out the pwnage and can be discovered via a shop purchase, in hidden treasure chests, buried underground and bosses will even give up their weaponry. Not only will Castle Crashers be overflowing with weapons galore, we also get a first glimpse at another playable character (seen above) and even though it doesn’t have an official name (The Behemoth admits they hate naming things) we’re going with “periwinkle knight”. And yes, he’s holding a blue lightsaber.

So Bungie dropped their latest Weekly Whats Update and it contains some great news. First and foremost there is the news that the first of Halo 3′s DLC packs will be free for all to download as of this Tuesday, 2am. So that would be the Heroic Map Pack, which contains the maps, Foundry, Rat’s Nest and Standoff. The update also notes that now that the maps are free, they’ll be required for certain playlists in matchmaking (Ranked Massive Team, Social Huge Team, Team Slayer and Rocket Race playlists) and will appear in them rather often. To tease those of us who didn’t buy the download, there’s a video of the Heroic maps included in the update as well.

As for the portion of the update that does not involve the Heroic Map Pack, there was the news that there would be a new map reveal coming this Tuesday, so hopefully that puts some rumors to rest. Additionally, there was mention of the new Double EXP Team SWAT playlist, the MLG/ESPN Top 10 Halo 3 plays, and a new episode of their podcast. Even with the game out the door, Bungie manages to keep a good flow of content and news coming to the press. Must be because that’s where their community managers started out ….
