Trion World Network CEO Lars Buttler believes there’s room for more than World of Warcraft on the MMO playground. One would hope he’d say that as Trion is attempting to break into a market dominated by Blizzard’s juggernaut. In an interview with GI.biz, Buttler reiterates his assertions, which brought him to our attention originally, that Activision CEO Bobby Kotick was trying to scare competition off by saying even with a $1 billion investment Activision couldn’t challenge WoW (good thing for Kotick the company owns it).

We’re hoping that Trion starts making some game announcements soon, as it allegedly has $30 million in funding, along with some former executives from top publishers. It’d just be nice to speak about Trion in some other context than Buttler saying WoW isn’t the only game in town.

On the “it still isn’t Ikaruga” front this week comes word that the Wednesday Xbox Live Arcade release will be TiQal. Since we don’t have a clue what TiQal is, we’re going to go off the information found on Xbox.com, so let’s get learned together. TiQal is “loads of excitement,” and also it promises to be both “fun and challenging.” Wait, what? Well what kind of a game is it?!

TiQal is a puzzle game, reminiscent of Tetris with a Zuma aesthetic with 100 levels, special power-ups and can bring dogs back to life. We got this info from Wikipedia, so some of it could be wrong - there are actually 120 levels. TiQal will hit this Wednesday for 800 MS points.

Well kids, this is it. The first “next-gen” game evar is finally on its way to retail shelves. That’s right, Dark Sector, the one time space stealth action game turned Eastern Europe stealth action game, will soon see the light of day. Is it any good? We’ll have to wait and see. But wait! There’s more! Not only are we getting Dark Sector this week, but also Universe at War: Earth Assault and Viking: Battle for Asgard. Viking is a hack and slash action game in the vein of God of War, while Universe at War: Earth Assault is a new entry in the RTS genre. Readers might recall that Universe at War is somewhat very special as it offers cross platform play between the Computer and Xbox 360. Given the 360’s lack of mouse and keyboard support — and the fact that the Computer version has been out for months — we’re anxious to see if console players will even stand a chance.

Super duper exciting news for Xbox Originals fanboys (if there are any out there), Microsoft just released Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (GOTY edition, of course) to the XBLM, their first Xbox Originals addition since way back in February. Funcom’s Dreamfall will join the other half dozen or so titles that are available on the Marketplace all costing a hefty 1200 Microsoft points and a solid chunk of your 360’s hard drive. Anyway, Dreamfall … now released as an Xbox Original … no accomplishments … does anyone really care?

To all who deny the might of Conan, hearken to a tale of his unbridled strength! Upcoming MMO Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures isn’t slated for release until Might, yet it has somehow topped the sales charts for March, according to X Play.

If this isn’t some kind of mistake, then Funcom’s new title has managed to secure an impressive amount of pre-orders — quite incredible, and an accomplishment some are using to present Age of Conan as World of Warcraft’s biggest contender yet.

I wish I could make a lot of money out of something I haven’t released yet.
