At this point, it’s pretty much a given. When publishers release new downloadable maps for their shooters, they sell them for 800 MS Points. At least, that’s the case when they know that they can. Sure, COD4 and Halo 3 players will pay 800 MS Points for a handful of maps. Both games have so many players that the publishers are bound to sell enough content to make money (it doesn’t hurt that gamers have to download maps if they plan on playing with their map owning friends). When your title doesn’t even crack the Live top ten, some more strategic planning is required. Thus, the Turok Velociraptor Pack, which contains 5 new maps (more than either of the upcoming packs for COD4 or Halo 3), will debut tomorrow for a mere 400 MS Points.

Touchstone also announced that Turok has shipped over 1 million units worldwide. No simple feat given the competition mentioned above. If you’d like to get your hands on one of those duplicates, don’t forget to enter our Turok giveaway, which runs until Friday afternoon.

Promising 40 automobiles, 95 tracks, a robust physics system and a helluvah lot of dirt, THQ’s Baja (set to release this August) is turning out to be a serious contender in the off-road racing genre. At least on paper. Recently, IGN sat down with the Baja dev team to speak specifics regarding how the team plans on keeping the gameplay fresh, how multiplayer works, if the damage system is forgiving and how in the world a four hour Baja 1000 will play out over Xbox Live. We learn a lot, our questions get answered, but we still have to see this game in action to know if its worth our gaming time. But until then, we’ll leave you with their latest teaser trailer to ponder one question. Will Baja be good times?

You can’t hate a developer for trying to consistently milk one of their successful titles for some quick cash. Oh wait, yes you can and in this case, we will. Namco is planning on releasing their second third fourth umteenth set of Ace Combat 6 downloadable content this Thursday, March 27th featuring six new jets ranging from free to 400 Microsoft points, a Co-op Battle Download #2 and an Ace of Aces Mission #2 pack. Those two packs are 300 points apiece. All calculated, if you wanted all the new AC6 DLC it’ll set you back 2100 Microsoft points. Or you can save your cash and wait until next month, when (almost like clockwork) Namco will probably scam you out of your points with some more costly DLC. Oh, and for the handful who are interested, tomorrow’s DLC details are posted after the jump.

Some new footage of The Bourne Conspiracy is up on GameTrailers showcasing some of the game’s firearms. Anyone that has played a third person shooter in the last several years should be relatively familiar with the action that’s present in this trailer. Dark environments: check. Cover system: check. A metal crate deflecting a helicopter’s high caliber gunfire: check. One thing that’s worth noting, however, is that the video shows no user interface whatsoever. There is no ammo gauge, no aiming reticle, no life meter, nothing. Whether this is indicative of the actual game or an example of developers removing the UI for the sake of a trailer, we’ll have to wait and see (for what it’s worth, none of the screenshots released thus far include a UI either).

Now, if we can just get a trailer devoted to some Bourne-tastic, arm-breaking hand-to-hand combat, we’ll be set.

You might have heard this crazy rumor that Electronic Arts is trying to buy Take Two Interactive and if you haven’t, welcome back to civilization. Diving deep into our library of research materials, Joystiq has analyzed and dissected all of the assets up for grabs in a possible Take Two buyout.

You may be surprised to see how many development teams call Take Two home. Other than obvious dev teams at Rockstar and 2K Boston, checking out this family album makes EA’s acquisition anxiousness all the more understandable!

Earlier today, Ubisoft confirmed with the folks over at Eurogamer that Far Cry 2’s release is currently planned for sometime later this autumn, thus putting to rest any speculation that the title was slipping into 2009. Previously, Ubisoft gave us a general release window from April ‘08 to March ‘09, so it’s comforting to know that we’ll see the visually impressive Far Cry 2 before year’s end. Ubi also told Eurogamer that they have plans to release a demo, but specifics regarding it have yet to be released.

So, should we anticipate all PC-to-XBLA ports to add a plus sign to their titles and call it a day now? Nominal concerns aside, Introversion Software has acknowledged the ESRB rating of Darwinia for the Xbox 360 and confirmed the existence of the title. The game will be titled Darwinia+ and will include both the original Darwinia and the upcoming multiplayer expansion, Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest. Details are sparse, apart from the fact that Darwinia+ should hit XBLA in Fall 2008

For those who don’t have the patience to wait that long, we advocate you snag the demo from Introversion, which is available for Mac, PC, and Linux.

Guitar Hero fans who are no fans of the Aerosmith will be happy to know that this Summer’s Guitar Hero: Aerosmith won’t be limited to music from the mouth of Steven Tyler. Praise the music gods!

Gameinformer received the scoop straight from Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry’s mouth, when he mentioned that bands like The Kinks, Cheap Trick, Mott the Hoople and Joan Jett will also be featured in GH:Aero. These new band announcements, on top of Lenny Kravitz, The White Stripes and Deep Purple all of which Perry confirmed previously, make GH:Aero a more rounded and acceptable buy. That said, we wonder how gamers’ negative sentiment surrounding Activision and how they’re handling the GH franchise will play out and how well GH:Aero will sell. Thumbs up to the new band announcements though.
