In celebration of the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack becoming free, a new video has popped up on Xbox Live Marketplace. The video features some of Bungie’s favorite creations set in the Heroic Map Packs included maps Foundry, Rat’s Nest, and Standoff. It’s a pretty short video, but there are definitely some cool bits in there. We particularly like the Forge built house, the Brute shot wielding monitor, and of course, what appears to be Optimus Prime. Enjoy.

Also, if you’ve got some sweet Halo 3 creations, don’t forget to submit them for our Community Content feature. We just might feature your custom maps and gametypes.

What’s with all the rumors these days? A rumor that began only hours ago has now been officially shot down by Capcom. Specifically, the rumor said that Resident Evil 4 was set to be remade again, this time for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It began with a forum post showcasing some blurry shots of would be box art for the title. Capcom has officially squashed the rumor, with Vice President Christian Svennson saying quite plainly that the company has “no plans” to bring Resident Evil 4 to either 360 or PS3 “at this time.”

Looks like 360 gamers will just have to settle with a new Resident Evil game instead.

It’s nothing to get too excited about honestly. First of all, the entire video is in Japanese, which makes sense considering it was taken from a Capcom 25th anniversary DVD found in the latest Famitsu. That stated, we do get to take a look at Chris Redfield taking out the latest batch of not-zombies in Resident Evil 5. Honestly, it’s probably a good thing that most of the footage was taken off-screen, as the sheer size of Chris Redfield’s muscles might be overpowering in high definition. Seriously, it looks like he’s smuggling T-bones in the back of his shirt (thick T-bones). Check out the new footage after the break.

Rockers everywhere, take note: Amazon is currently offering the Rock Band Special Edition — which includes the game, microphone, drums, and guitar — for $147.99. As Amazon notes, that’s $22 (or 13%) off the regular price of $169.99. These kinds of deals tend to sell out swift, so all the frugal virtuosos out there had best jump on it. No, seriously, why are you still here? Go get some cheap Rock Band.

Hahaha, oh man. Capcom loves to re-release Resident Evil games nearly to the point of self parody, and shows no signs of stopping now, if rumors are to be believed. According to a poster at The Horror, Resident Evil 4: Classic Edition could be hitting the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles before long.

Many orcs are putting on their sad faces today as Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning suffers another delay. Eurogamer reports that the game’s producer, Jeff Hickman, said the title is being pushed from Q2 until the fall. WAR’s last delay, which shifted it from 2007 to this year, was blamed on EA’s takeover of Mythic, though it did affordthe company more time to polish the title.

The only thing that raises a red flag about WAR releasing this fall is a tiny game called World of Warcraft and its expansion that many believe will hit later this year. We’re just saying, if we were releasing a fantasy-themed MMO, we’d leave as much breathing room as possible between our game and any WoW release.

Wednesday is here and as a reward for making it halfway through the work week / school week, Microsoft has released Slapdash Games’ TiQal to the Xbox Live Arcade for all to enjoy. For 800 Microsoft points, you can experience everything TiQal has to offer including 120 levels of funnery, single and multiplayer gameplay and “loads of excitement”. We’ve even been told TiQal has the potential to give your life a meaning and cure gout. No promises though.

In the past few years the team at Atlus have etched their name into role-playing history books as a niche Japanese publisher that has quickly invaded the West with the unique brand of titles. Having announced two titles for the Xbox 360 in late 2007, Atlus has revealed new information on one of the two titles with an updated website and a slew of fresh screens. Visiting the newly updated official site for Operation Darkness reveals updated game information and that a demo is scheduled for Might 5 on the Xbox Live Marketplace, months after the release of a Japanese demo that went live in December 2007.

With third celebration support from a team like Atlus maybe Microsoft can claim to be one helluva RPG-player’s console after all. Operation Darkness, which has recently been rated M by the ESRB, is an RPG / small-squad tactics hybrid from developer SUCCESS that supports up to 4 players cooperatively over Xbox Live and is set to hit retail later this year.

This story is proof that karma and technology go together like chocolate syrup and vanilla ice-cream. Jesse McPherson, a 26 year-old engineer from Philadelphia, was shocked to find his Halo 3 edition Xbox 360, big-screen television and Apple G4 Powerbook stolen from his home upon returning from the current SXSW event. After dealing with local authorities, who seemed more interested in taste-testing donuts than helping, Jesse took the matter into his own hands to solve the crime.

After booting up a new Xbox 360 Jesse was shocked to find threatening messages from Xbox Live user I iRandom I claiming to be one of the perpetrators of the crime and demanded cash for the safe return of the Xbox console (coupled with ignorant NSFW language, of course!). After submitting his story to digg, which included an image of the second suspect in the theft that was taken from a local pawn shop’s security monitor, Jesse was shocked to find over 7000 users had launched the event to the top digg’s main page.

After a barrage of threatening messages to the admitted thief’s account from random Xbox Live users and dialog with the brave thief’s own mom (His mommy got involved? Ultimate bad-ass!), Jesse’s Xbox 360 console was returned in working condition (the Powerbook was also returned on a separate occasion). What, you might ask, were the officers of Jesse’s local precinct doing in the time he solved the crime? Who knows, but hopefully it was updating their resumes to include sloth as a major skill.
