As everyone knows, Activision’s first foray into the band-dedicated Guitar Hero releases kicks off with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith this summer. While we’ve joked about the title in the past we’re excited to see how the final product will hit with fans of the billion-dollar franchise. One interesting note from the video is the text that follows the introduction of legendary rockers. After gazing upon the awesome interestingly animated faces of the band, the trailer introduces the gamer as “and you.” This disappointingly points at the inability to play as Joe Perry, Brad Whitford or Tom Hamilton. But we’ll wait and see. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is set to rock on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii this June.

With news of Ikaruga’s imminent release, and the previous release of Triggerheart Exelica, it would seem to the casual observer that XBLA would be a great place for screen-scrolling shooters. Well, this isn’t quite so. In the most current issue of Famitsu, Cave, the developers of Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label X and Ketsui X speak out about their experience with Microsoft’s Live Arcade decision making division, and the account sounds eerily similar to the tale told to us by the developers of N+.

In a nutshell, Microsoft told Cave that they couldn’t put their games on Live Arcade due to the fact that Microsoft is “going to cut down on faithful arcade ports.” So Cave will have to put their two games out via traditional retail channels, but they’re quite understandably frustrated and would prefer to bring these two arcade games, and more, to market via XBLA instead of via disc. And this is still horrible news in that it back’s up Metanet’s assertion that there are problems deciding what content makes it onto XBLA.

Hit the break for the full statement from Cave.

Some new test footage of Jetpack Brontosaurus has been released. In this first video, it shows off how the Brontosaurus can fly around and land on the easy test level. From the new information, it looks like the game will be set in some sort of dream world. The colors change randomly and you can also get an X-Ray view of the dinosaur due to the jetpacks.

Jetpack Brontosaurus will include some other Dinosaurs as you can see by the concept art above of the Dream Stegosaurus. The concept art is extremely clever too. I love that this is some sort of nature-dinosaur hybrid and how the leaves are being portrayed as the Stegosaurus’s spikes.
