Just in case you were worried about not being able to grab the new “Still Alive” Rock Band downloadable content for free before it’s promotional period (you procrastinating bum), you can rest easy now. Major Nelson just confirmed that Jonathan Coulton’s “Still Alive” will forever be a free DLC download off the XBLM. That means future Rock Band purchasers will be able to get their GLaDOS fix for free, whenever they get around to downloading it. Applause to Microsoft, EA, Harmonix and Valve for working together to make this happen. Teamwork FTW!

Considering the day that it is, we would usually have immediately discarded this news had it not come right from the official Game of the Year site. That site is now listing the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack for release on April 10th, rather than the previously scheduled date of April 3rd. This could just be Infinity Ward using the date to give its audience a bit of a scare at April Fools’ expense, as the other official site has no date at all for the DLC, nor news about its delay. Combined with the fact that the GOTY edition is still set to release on the third, and the fact that the GOTY site doesn’t appear to have full functionality, it seems unlikely that this news is accurate. Though of course there is still that possibility, as this is a rather humorless joke and we like to think that Infinity Ward is capable of something much funnier.

According to the folks over at Chart-Track, Xbox 360 sales are doing just fine in Europe thanks to a price-cut that was instated last month, spurring console sales to another large install base milestone. After some very scientific analysis, Dorian Bloch, director of UK sales monitor Chart-Track, revealed that “we are very close to clocking through 2 million 360s in the UK. It should be next week.” And 2 million units is nothing to scoff at. Bloch also provided some console war guidance saying that “the Xbox 360 is extremely well liked in the UK and very strong” and that “Sony has a long way to go to overtake it in the UK.” So … we guess this would be a bad time to bring up the 360’s Japanese sales then wouldn’t it?

Only FoxToid brings you the answer to the age-old question Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS: According to authorities, the elusive red-trenchcoated world traveler was picked up last night for prostitution in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The former ACME agent, being well versed in geography, knew that Amsterdam’s red light district was the best place for her to make some much needed money.

She told police that endless world travel caught up with her pocketbook, and she took to working the streets to make ends meet. She is now being held in a Dutch jail, where jailmates Rockapella frequently break out in song.

In an undercover operation, Sandiego was caught servicing Double Dare game show host Marc Summers. Among the evidence, police found that Sandiego billed Summers for a service called “the physical challenge.” Summers refused to comment.

A police spokesperson stated, “Now we know why everyone was looking for her. Apparently she’s top notch!”

In news we completely anticipate to be an April Fools’ joke and one that’s played off rather coyly at that, Rare thought they’d offer loyal Banjo-Kazooie fanboys five possible Banjo-Kazooie 3 storylines as part of their latest feature Disinformation Central”. You see, they claim that one of the five possible storylines they offer up is the game’s real one with the other four being made up nothingness. Take a look at all five different plot outlines after the break, decide which one is real, then slap your face because we all know none of them are legit. Or so we don’t think. Maybe Rare’s April Fools’ joke is the fact that they’re being serious? Or maybe that’s what they want us to think? Meh, too confusing, just enjoy the read.

The Castle Crashers dev blog has had some fun and interesting things, keeping the media flowing and the interest high. Their latest reveal is a feature they’re calling Animal Orbs. During the game you’ll find these animal-limbed orbs and they will imbue you with an enhancement, or help you in combat, or aid you in some manner not unlike a power-up. As with the Periwinke Knight, there was a reveal of a single orb, along with it’s one-of-a-kind power, visible above. Though it was explained that there’s currently a total of 23 different orbs with a variety of powers, there has only been one official reveal, and the dev blog advocates that not all of them will be unveiled there. However, the top banner of the blog has been changed to include some animal orbs, and from the looks of things there’s going to be a cardinal, a dog or wolf, and cat or small tiger tagging along with you as well.
