Bad news first — the PlayStation Network will be (partially) taken offline starting on April 14, beginning at 8am PST. It will return at 11pm PST, and the only thing that’ll be affected will be access to the PlayStation Store. So if you were planning on buying flOw tomorrow after holding off for all of these months, you’re out of luck.

Behold! It’s the debut trailer for Don King’s upcoming boxing game Prizefighter and it’s really, really … boxy? The first thing we have to mention is that Prizefighter’s graphics are ideal described as “meh, okay”, only because EA’s Fight Night is so freakin’ gorgeous. The other thing we must state is that the game’s button mashing training sequences are actually an interesting idea that look to switch things up a bit. We’re serious about that. Other than that, Prizefighter looks like a boxing game, one that’s full of Don King chatter, blood, sweat and (hopefully) tears. Watch the trailer and see if you like.

Have yet to pickup Forza Motorsport 2 simply because your video game allowance has been in the red for the past year? If so, we’ve good news, because Microsoft just announced that the retail price for Forza 2 has dropped to a rather nice $29.99 in the U.S. Heck, for that price, you may even want to throw in the fire-starting wireless racing wheel as well. But that’d probably put your gaming budget further into the red … oh well, you only live once. Race on fanboys, race on!

If Tiff’s current preview didn’t get you out to your local game shop to reserve Fallout 3, maybe this will. GameStop is listing a pretty packed “Collector’s Edition” of the game, which is stated to come with:

- Vault Boy Bobblehead: Enjoy your very own Vault Boy with this collector’s item direct from Vault-Tec.

- The Art of Fallout 3: This hardcover book features nearly 100 pages of never-before seen concept art and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists.

- The Making of Fallout 3: Get an exclusive, inside look at Bethesda Game Studios and the team behind the game with this special DVD.

- Vault-Tec Lunch Box: The entire package comes in a fully customized metal lunchbox.

All of this comes at $69.99 price point for PC, and $79.99 on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Bethesda, it seems, knows how to do a collector’s edition right — when Oblivion launched for the Computer and Xbox 360, the collector’s edition came with some pretty slick extras, including a replica coin, a world map, a sizable “pocket guide,” and more.

When I went to Bethesda last year to get our first glimpse of Fallout 3, they gave us the Vault-Tec Lunch Box and Vault Boy Bobblehead, and believe me, it’s definitely worth the extra $10. If history repeats itself, these collector’s editions will be hard to come by once they’re released; even if you’re adamant when it comes to not reserving games (you’re too cool, you’re too cheap, you hate GameStop), you might want to give it some serious thought.

Next week, it’ll be back to the older stuff, as Harmonix will be bringing us the “Classic Rock Pack 01”. I guess their definition of “classic rock” includes any music that uses guitars and was made before in or before 1980. But frankly, I wouldn’t really think about The Police or Blondie as part of that genre; when I think of classic rock, I usually begin humming songs from artists like The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton.

However, Harmonix doesn’t give a damn about my view, unlike you guys (…right?). So they’ve lumped in those two bands with a classic rock staple, Lynyrd Skynyrd. The three songs on tap are Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” (1973), “Message in a Bottle” by The Police (1979), and Blondie’s “Call Me” (1980). Like Nick, I lament the continued lack of Journey, but I’m perfectly happy with these three master tracks.

This will all be available on Xbox Live next Tuesday, April 15th, and since the PlayStation Store will finally be updated next week, PS3 owners can get these three songs, along with the last two weeks of Rock Band DLC, on Thursday, April 17th. Each song will cost 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99), though as usual, you can pick up the three-song pack for 440 MS Points ($5.49). The press release is after the jump.

In case Nick Chester’s fantastically detailed “GTA IV Week” posts haven’t titillated you enough, Rockstar ratcheted up the anticipation for GTA IV today with a flood of information. The update comprises a broad variety of new features on the game’s official Web site:

New multiplayer modes and details
Two new videos
Two new radio stations/DJs
A mess of flash sites for in-game features
A ton of new screens

Nick already gave you a preview on the expansive multiplayer aspect of the game. Now you can find some information on all of the game’s team modes in the Web site’s Multiplayer section, which was previously shut with a “Coming Soon” tag. The new radio stations are Electrochoc (pronounced “Electroshock”), which features dance music, and L.C.H.C. (“Liberty City Hard Core”), which plays hardcore rock. Try them out in the widget above!

I’ve included the details of the new update after the jump, straight from the News page on the official site. Check it out, and then head over to www.rockstargames.com/IV/ to see it all for yourself.

[Editor’s note: For some reason, the widget won’t work in Firefox for me; I had to view this post in Internet Explorer to get it to work. Weird, I’m not even using the beta of Firefox 3.]

According to Eurogamer, Sony has denied knowing anything about the now mysterious error code that some PS3 owners have reported seeing, following the failure of their Blu-ray drives. Not to be confused with that other set of fictional unlucky numbers, this one is purported to have real life consequences.

However, if Gamerevolver is to be believed, the error and the drive failure are somehow coincidental in nature, and not related:

“Since this error occurred, we obviously contacted Sony Support. We were informed that the code is not common, and a easy reset of the system, and restoral of factory settings should do the trick. Unfortunately, after the restoral, the error still occurred. So, we dug a bit further, and this is what we found.

The error code is actually one of two things, a) a faulty sector on the internal hard drive, or b) a faulty installation of software/firmware, both iterations actually coincide with each other. If the hard drive suffers a faulty sector (a section of damaged space on the drive that data might have been written to that no longer is readable), an installation might still be processed, and even work, but the error can cause some serious side effects, such as option b. If your PS3 has installed an item incorrectly, including firmware, it is in high risk of receiving this error.”

More on this, after the jump:
