Love it or hate it, you’ve to admit that Lost Planet is the best third-person shooter featuring a snowy planet filled with giant bugs to come out on current gen systems.

Those who skipped out on the game, however, may want to continue to not play it until Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition is released on Might 27 for the Xbox 360 and Computer, as it contains new maps, characters, modes, and more.

Some of the new content Colonies includes is shown in the gallery below, including the mode “Akrid Hunter,” which finally puts you in control of those damned oversized bugs. Also depicted is a cameo by a certain photographer that’s looking surprisingly relaxed for a man who’s wearing so tiny clothing for such frigid weather.

Anyone interested in Colonies, or are you all so content with Grand Theft Auto IV that you can’t fathom purchasing another game so soon?

Warner Bros. Interactive has just released some new media for its upcoming PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Computer title Project Origin and well … I guess I’m not playing this game with my kid.

In this upcoming sequel to 2005’s F.E.A.R., you’ll play a Delta Force operative who — instead of using traditional weaponry — dumps buckets of pig’s blood on his enemies. OK, that’s not true at all. But what in the hell is going on in that screenshot up there? The average human has two gallons of blood in his or her body, and I swear what we’re seeing is about 17 liters splattered all over the screen.

Project Origin is set for a fall release, and while it has yet to be rated by the ESRB, I’ve my suspicions it’s not going to be E10+.

Massive news! Blizzard Entertainment has purchased the fan-owned domain Diablo3.com! You know what that means, right? Right? Blizzard are prepping for the mega-announcement of the century, right? Right? Not so fast.

In a long letter to the community, the former owners of Diablo3.com (now known as Diablofans.com) speak a bit about the acquisition, saying it was amicable and that Blizzard was “really cool about it.” Blizzard also made it clear that this move “shouldn’t be considered an announcement for the Diablo 3 game.” Because Diablo 3? Pffft — who wants or needs it?

But let’s get real for a second. Despite Blizzard being tight-lipped on the matter, a new Diablo game is as inevitable as me eating an entire box of Count Chocula if given the chance. That is to say, it’s going to happen, and there’s nothing my wife or physician can do about it. When it’ll be revealed is an entirely different story, but my guess is that it will involve fire and lots of loot.

Last year, the makers of Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer, Eastasiasoft, gave me a peek at their side-scrolling shooter, and I was blown away. I saw it running on a laptop, played with an Xbox 360 controller. These impressions hit me in this order:

  • wow, this game is beautiful
  • wow, this looks hard
  • wow, this needs to be on the PSN and Live.

It was released for PC last year, and is still available. And now there’s a pretty good chance that this title will reach the PlayStation Network. Gaming Bits noticed a single picture of Soldner-X on the US PlayStation Web site, which is a pretty good indicator. I don’t think it’s that much of a mystery; the Soldner-X home page has a PlayStation 3 version listed as “TBA 2008.” Oh, and now the game has an official PlayStation page of its own.

Still, they give us no details. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a PSN version of this high-definition, 60FPS-sporting, beautiful looking and sounding shooter.

File this one under “Looks good on paper, but could be a potential shark-jumping disaster,” folks. The eagle eyes of the Internet have recently spotted a job listing on SCEA’s Web site for a full-time online gameplay programmer to join the Santa Monica team that worked on God of War and God of War II.

Earlier this day Monolith dropped five bloody screens of their latest shooter F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin. Each of the five screens includes the proper amount of killing and pools of blood that you would expect from a Monolith title. Also included are a peek at brand new environments and the Giant Mechanized Walker from the player perspective. Not pictured is Alma (above) who really should go see an optometrist about that red-eye problem.

Heads up! LucasArts just launched the official LEGO Indiana Jones website and with it comes a brand new gameplay trailer as well. Whiptacular!

The official LEGO Indy website features your standard array of game screenshots, videos and community forums, but also boasts a lil’ treasure hunt where you can use your newly discovered gems to “purchase” wallpapers, avatars and (our favorite) coloring sheets! The new trailer (embedded above) gives curious LEGO Indy fans a look at what’s to come, including the occasional ride on a LEGO elephant and tons of whip usage. So much whip use that one has to wonder if whipping things can become an addiction. Whips Anonymous anyone?

GameVideos (which has received a large makeover, by the way) has posted a new trailer for FaceBreaker, the upcoming cartoon boxer from EA. The video serves as an introduction to Romeo, a svelte Spanish boxer with a voice that lands somewhere between Antonio Banderas and Family Guy’s Mr. Weed. Perhaps more importantly, the video gives us a peek at how FaceBreaker will actually play. Assuming what’s seen in the video is actually taken from gameplay, you can expect to occasionally launch foes totally off the mat. In the video, Romeo repeatedly launches foes high in the air and lands another crushing blow as they plummet back to the canvas. We have to admit, it looks care about it could be a lot of fun. Given the pedigree of EA Canada (Fight Night Round 3), we’re hopeful that it will be.
