The Internet has been ablaze with Grand Theft Auto IV “news” this week, and it’s driving me completely insane. Sure, it was nice hearing tidbits about the game before it was released, but can everyone shut up about it already and just play the damn game?
If any of you share my frustration, I urge you to jump on the web tonight with the Friday Night Fights crew for some good old-fashioned simulated bloodshed to release all of that stress you’ve built up during this week.
Oh, and for those of you who can’t remember when FNF kicks off, it generally starts at around 10:00 p.m. EST, although it varies for some games (check after the break for more specific times).

Today we’re getting a one two punch of musical DLC with Activision first announcing Muse DLC for GHIII and now Harmonix announcing that Rock Band will be getting Fallout Boy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Angel & Airwaves goodness next week.
Available for purchase off the Marketplace on Tuesday, Might 6th will be a set of three Rock Band tracks that’ll be priced at 160 Microsoft points each or grouped together as a “Scene Pack” for 440 points. The three DLC tracks include “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” by Fallout Boy, “Date With The Night” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and “It Hurts” by Angels & Airwaves. Oh how excited we are to make a scene! W00t!

We’ve joked around about the amount of and how crazy pricey Ace Combat 6’s downloadable content is, but never really pulled out our calculators to get the full picture. But the crew at 1UP did and their findings will make AC6 fanboys’ jaws fall to the floor.
Let’s get to it. The grand total of all of AC6’s DLC (including new jets, skins, new missions and multiplayer modes) equals an extraordinary $121.83 or 9,750 Microsoft points. Add to that the cost of the game itself and you’ve got a $181 “complete” AC6 experience. Outrageous! After doing the math, 1UP was able to ask NAMCO about the numerous / crazy high-priced DLC and were given the standard we “pay very close attention to user feedback and comments”, blah, blah, blah marketing runaround. But most interesting is the fact that NAMCO refused to answer 1UP’s questions about certain items’ pricing, what was up with the Beautiful Katamari paid unlocks and how they’ll treat Soul Calibur IV DLC. On second thought, maybe NAMCO has taken the crown from EA for being most evil DLC developer.

Adding to the pile of Blu-ray rumors we’ve had the privilege of reporting on for the past few months, we get word that a Blu-ray equipped Xbox 360 is headed our way the third quarter of this year.
According to the Chinese Economic Daily News, Pegatron Technology (an OEM subsidiary of Asustek Personal who deals with computer component manufacturing) has been selected by Microsoft to assemble Xbox 360 consoles with Blu-ray drives which will start shipping Q3 2008. And, as Joystiq points out, the report’s wording hints at the Blu-ray drive being internal rather than an external add-on. So, how long will it take for Microsoft to deny this latest Blu-ray gem? We give them until 4:00PM eastern.

Recently, a countdown clock over on Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto 2 website caused a rumor to Spring up speculating that, when the countdown expired at the end of Might, Rockstar would announce that GTA2 would be releasing to the XBLA. But, sadly, that isn’t the case.
IGN confirmed with Rockstar that the countdown clock in question isn’t counting down to any new announcement and is actually quite old. It was used once, way back in the 1990s to countdown to GTA2’s release onto the PS1. But why the 2008 countdown expiration? Simple. The countdown code is messed up because it doesn’t understand how to take into account the 2000s. So, no GTA2 for the XBLA, no new announcement, just an old clock that should have been removed ages ago.

As was mentioned previously when it was initially scheduled for release on April 22nd, a new Conflict: Denied Ops Eagle Pack is now available for buy off the Xbox Live Marketplace. Joy! But before Denied Ops fanboys (all eight of you) get too excited, know that this DLC isn’t cheap.
For 800 Microsoft points … ahem, 800 Microsoft points this 727MB download will add five new multiplayer maps to the mix including Lost City, Tank Yard, Sanctuary, Killing Zone, and Adrift. And did we mention that this Denied Ops DLC will cost 800 Microsoft points? Heck, it doesn’t even come with an update to make the game fun … humph to that!

It’s time once again for another 100% Bungie approved and X3F certified Halo 3 Double EXP Weekend! This Double EXP Weekend, we get to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a new Legendary Map Pack required, ten person, social, free for all, Fiesta gametype playlist called “Cinco de Mayo”. How appropriate, right? For those who aren’t familiar with Fiesta, it’s pretty much Slayer but each time you spawn you’re given a random weapon or two. Kinda like a drunken, super violent fiesta … get it? Also, since it is Might, Bungie rolled out all the new Halo 3 playlist changes including the addition of a full-time (and ranked) Team SWAT as well as making Social Slayer a 4v4 playlist. Check out the matchmaking updates, go play Fiesta and celebrate Cinco de Mayo the Bungie way.

Arcade sports games have always been a strange beast. Most have been designed around multiplayer madness, with you and your friends in a room shouting at each other while performing feats that defy the laws of physics. And accordingly, their single-player modes have tended to be somewhat lacking.
So developers have tried to freshen things up in the arcade sports genre by introducing “career” or “lifestyle” modes. Here, the idea is to begin out as a nobody in your sport, and take your game to the top. NBA Ballers: Chosen One is one of those games. It’s the fourth game in Midway’s NBA Ballers series, which is all about the basketball/hip-hop high life.
Sure, we’d all like to be paid millions of dollars to play a sport for a living, but unfortunately, I’m barely 5′7″, and I don’t have much stamina when it comes to running up and down a basketball court (or running in general, now that I think of it). As such, I checked out Chosen One, because videogames — especially sports games — are all about living vicariously. To find out how it went, hit the jump for Destructoid’s review of NBA Ballers: Chosen One.

Czech gaming Web site Tiscali Games has just posted the first screenshots from Namco Bandai’s upcoming next-gen gore fest, Splatterhouse.
From the screens the game looks to have a God of War-like vibe, with the ‘roid-raged Rick tearing apart monsters with both his bare hands, in addition to busting skulls with his trademark wooden board. Other than the fact that Rick looks disproportional and ridiculous (which we already were prepared for), there’s not much else to go on.
I’m all about tearing off monster’s heads and smashing in their faces with 2
