Uranus — the planet’s name never gets old. As long as it exists in the universe, we will all be 11-years-old, and the art of comedy will never die. Capcom clearly comprehends this, employing the timeless joke when naming their Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network expansion, Rocketmen: It Came From Uranus.
The expansion to the already available digitally-distributed Rocketmen: Axis of Evil will include three new weapons, two new secondary weapons (including a robotic falcon, which in and of itself is killer to the max), and three new levels. The expansion requires that you have already purchased Axis of Evil, and will hit XBLA on Might 14 (for 400 MS Points) and PSN on Might 15 (for $4.95).
Based on the tabletop strategy game Rocketmen, the original game — a four-player cooperative top-down shooter — was released this past March. I’m a massive fan of dungeon crawling (or space ship crawling, as is the case here), but was only slightly amused by what came across as a mediocre (if not a slightly endearing and stylized) title.
Hit the jump for more details on the contents of the expansion.

Well, as if having one character making fun of the hero of his competitor’s game wasn’t enough, Tomonobu Itagaki is at it again. Seen via a (horrible) screencap of one of the game’s cutscenes is the series’ newest female character, Elisabeth. Sporting a red coat, she could be read as another parody of Dante, but the character’s concept art reveals a direction a bit different from that of our crying devil. The second of the two pieces of concept art is that of a male boss named Alexei, and both of the character’s names can be found in the game’s rumored accomplishments, perhaps lending more credibility to the list.

It’s too bad that the developers didn’t mention this during Sierra’s gamers day, but it seems now that the previously confirmed for Fall 08 title, Prototype, will now be getting released at some unknown date in 2009. According to the Sierra PR representative who spoke with Gamespot, the team simply needs more time to deliver the game that was originally promised. That’s right folks, no delay just for co-op (at least as far as we know now). While it’s always good if developers take more time to get their games absolutely perfect, only time will tell whether this will end up being a good move. Hey, if Army of Two had released in Fall 07 it would’ve been murdered, instead it was released in spring and saw fair sales.

It’s Gamestop’s Madden Monday and that means we get treated to yet another interesting Madden NFL 09 feature reveal, and this week we learn about the capability to return missed field goals. This feature should be pretty self-explanatory, when a field goal is attempted and missed, your opponent can return it for a possible score. Group breaking feature add, no? In all honestly though, the capability to return missed field goals is a no-brainer and should’ve been in Madden ever since Hester was first conceived. Returnable missed field goals, user-controlled celebrations and a heaping helping of Favre … Madden 09 is going to be a-maz-ing!

Late last week Actiga Coporation revealed a partnership with Microsoft to develop a new version of the company’s Qmotions X-Board (shown above) for the Xbox 360 called the Qmotions Massive Air controller. Coming Fall 2008, the deck allows gamers to control their favorite skateboarding games with a motion-based controller you stand on.
“Our aim with the Xbox 360 system is to broaden the consumer videogame experience and ensure a perfect match between the console, the peripherals and the game,” says Scott Loomis, Xbox Third Celebration Peripheral Program Manager. “We will work closely with Qmotions to ensure the best experience for our Xbox 360 players.”
According to the press release, the Qmotions Huge Air controller is the first of “a full-range of products that will be officially endorsed by Microsoft.” We expect to hear more on the partnership leading into this years E3 event.

Huge Xbox 360 fanboy brownie points goes to developer Valve, not only for giving the 360 a superior version of the Orange Box, but because they openly diss the PS3. Now that’s the kind of developer we love.
Chatting with CVG at a current Left 4 Dead preview event, Valve’s Doug Lombardi was blatantly honest about why they aren’t planning a PS3 version of the game, saying that “we’re not PS3 developers - we’re doing PC and 360 like with Orange Box.” Zing! Lombardi explained that “EA came to us and said ‘wow, Orange box was an astounding project, can we do a PS3 version?’”, so that’s why a (craptacular) PS3 version was created without Valve’s magic touch. Though, it’s still possible we’ll see Left 4 Dead on the PS3 if it becomes a large hit on the 360 and Computer, just don’t expect Valve to be involved … mwahahahaha!

Coming off a a week long Xbox Live Arcade drought, Microsoft just announced that the board game based Wits and Wagers will be releasing to the XBLA this Wednesday, May 7th. W00t!
For 800 Microsoft points, players will be treated to a trivia game unlike any other, where players bet on who they believe knows the correct answer. With over 700 questions, a quirky presentation, up to six players on the web, local play and massive button controller support, Wits and Wagers may fill that social trivia void you feel inside.

It seems that publishers everywhere foresaw the Grand Theft Auto IV effect with great clarity. Apart from the obligatory release of the Iron Man game last week (gotta tie in with the movie release, y’know), everyone is keen to stay away from Rockstar’s behemoth. What we’re getting at here, lest you haven’t figured it out, is that there are no new games on the Xbox 360 this week. Don’t feel too bad though. After all, it’s not like anyone is done with GTAIV yet anyway. Oh sure, you might have already beaten the game (like Xav), but no one is done with it. Come to think of it, there are games inside of GTAIV. If you haven’t played them yet, those are kind of like new releases ….

It’s almost always nice to see a fresh demo pop up on Xbox Live Marketplace. This day is one of those days, thanks to a brand-spankin-new (and very early) demo for The Bourne Conspiracy from Sierra and High Moon. The demo clocks in at 1.2 gigabytes (yow) and promises “An intense, fast-paced, authentic experience.” In other words, the demo promises about as much as your average Mexican restaurant. We’ve yet to put the demo through its paces, but we’re eager to give it a try, as what we’ve seen of The Bourne Conspiracy so far has us intrigued though it hasn’t managed to really excite us thus far. Here’s hoping the demo paints a good picture of the game to come.
