Power-glove might have beaten me to the punch, but I’ve been running out of themes for these Friday Night Fights posts, so I ran with it anyway.

If you haven’t got the slightest idea what I’m referring to, then you obviously don’t hit up the community blogs as often as you should. In any case, FNF will be starting up at around 10:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise noted.

I hope you guys are ready for more Grand Theft Auto IV insanity, cause we’ll be dishing it out by the spoonful. Are you still ready to Friday?

[Thanks, CaffeinePowered, power-glove, wardrox, and Y0j1mbo!]

It has been ten years in the making, but that doesn’t make the milestone any less spectacular to Sony and prized developer Polyphony Digital, as both proudly announced that the Gran Turismo games as a whole have shipped more than 50 million units worldwide.

It has to be mentioned that this number includes GT 5 Prologue, which accounted for a respectable 2 million or so units shipped/downloaded on its own. Speaking of Prologue, I’m curious as to how many of our readers decided to bite the bullet and pick up the enhanced demo game for themselves — in lieu of waiting for the full-fledged version of GT 5.

Also, I can’t help but wonder: Did some guy named Niko (and his cousin Roman) momentarily displace Gran Turismo’s comfortable spot in your PS3’s slot? Inquiring minds want to know. Anyway, congratulations go out to Sony and PD for reaching this milestone. The games have been nothing short of masterpieces, and both companies certainly deserve any accolades for their part in it.

There’s no better way to end the week than with a hefty helping of confirmed Rock Band downloadable content for next week. It’s one of those small things that makes life all the more enjoyable and brighter. Anyway, let’s get to it. Next Tuesday, Might 13th Harmonix will be adding “Hanging on the Telephone” by Blondie, “Train in Vain” by The Clash and “Kool Thing” by Sonic Youth to the Rock Band DLC library. Each track will be 160 Microsoft points and only available individually, which means no money saving three pack for you. So … yippy for Blondie?

We’re going to be honest with you, because that’s what we expect you expect from us. This week’s list of new U.S. Video Marketplace releases is huge which results in this edition of Video Marketplace Weekly being large as well. Nearly too huge. There are new movie rentals that range from Paris Hilton’s The Hottie and the Nottie to old-school Michael J. Fox Teen Wolf to The Blue Collar Comedy Tour. There’s completely no way we can group or categorize the randomness and quantity of new XBVM releases this week. Take a look after the break for a list of this week’s new XBVM releases which, we have to state one more time, is massively large.

In a recent interview, Microsoft’s own Aaron Greenberg decided to go on the offense when speaking about Sony and their large promises that they keep making yet fail to deliver on. Specifically talking, Greenberg brings up the PS3’s 1080p support, Blu-ray, Playstation Home, PS3’s supposed lead in Europe and even Killzone 2. Speak about fanboy ammunition! We don’t have to say much more, because we think Aaron Greenberg’s remarks can pretty much stand on their own. Check after the break for some attack’alicious Greenberg quotes … yum!

If your Grand Theft Auto IV playing habits have been ritualistic in nature lately, all in an effort to complete the game to earn a key to the city as part of the 100% Club contest, then we state keep up your hard work. There’s still time to succeed.

Rockstar’s 100% Club contest, where anyone who beats GTAIV 100% earns membership into the 100% Club AND is sent a real key to Liberty City, has been extended! That’s right, the contest was initially scheduled to have already ended, but Rockstar wants to make sure “everyone has a chance to get in on the action” and extended the contest until Monday, May 19th. So, get your GTAIV gaming on, complete the game 100% and earn your key to Liberty City!

[Thanks, Bryan T]

As is beginning to be customary each weekend, Bungie recently made available a new double experience point weekend playlist that will make sniper fans giddy with headshot happiness.

The new (and weekend limited) Halo 3 Team Snipers double EXP matchmaking playlist is live right now, will end sometime during the early morning hours this Monday and requires both the Heroic and Legendary Map packs. Secondary requirements for enjoying Team Snipers is a steady hand, a talent for shooting people’s heads and we’re sure a previous preference for the sniper rifle would help too. Have fun, rack up the EXP and earn that General Grade 3 already.

After a current earnings call, Activision outlined plans to release a new entry into the Call of Duty series by the end of its 2009 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2009. “We’ll launch on all four platforms we’ve participated on in fiscal [year] 2008,” Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith stated, refering to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s debut on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Nintendo DS; a PS2 and Wii version are also in the works.

Griffith also revealed that Call of Duty 5 will see the franchise move into a new “military theater.” Long-standing suspicion has been that Call of Duty 3 developer Treyarch would return the franchise to its World War II roots but Griffith’s comments seem to debunk that setting rumor. Griffith did not mention whether Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward or rumored Treyarch would take the reins as the Call of Duty 5 developer.

On the subject of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Griffith revealed the James Bond licensed title that’s currently in development by Treyarch will be powered by the CoD4 engine and release around the time of the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, this fall.

The only question to answer now is which war could Call of Duty 5 be based on. The answer? Civil. Muskets = Win.
