If you’re looking for new Halo 3 information, then this week’s Bungie Weekly Update isn’t for you because Frankie is still missing in action and isn’t doing his job. Though, if you’re looking for a new way to earn Recon armor AND a way to mock Frankie publicly, then this week’s Bungie Weekly Update IS for you.

Bungie is holding a contest where they’re challenging expert (and not so expert) Photoshoppers to take some old Frankie photos (ones where he actually has hair) and mess with him. The three categories for entry include Ideal Use of Frank’s Image via an Existing Internet Meme, Best Utilization of Frank’s Image in a Motivational Poster and Ideal Use of Frank’s Image Inspired by a Major Motion Picture and the winner from each category will walk away with Recon. Fire up Photoshop, there’s Recon to earn …

Threespeech has an interview up with Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells that throws up something as bemusing as it is amusing. Even though there are plenty of fish in the sea, there’d be a lot less if Naughty Dog would have had its way. It wanted to allow you to shoot the aquatic gawpers in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune but feared this would cause the game to be rated Mature instead of Teen. It’s official — killing fish is a worse crime than killing people.

You can shoot plenty of human enemies in Uncharted, but the fish are a no-go, as Evan explains:

We’d hit reactions and even some death animations for the wildlife in the game but we selected to remove it. It was flagged as a potential issue by the ESRB and it seemed like a small concession to make in order to maintain our “Teen” rating. It may have also affected the rating in Europe.

That’s kind of crazy, really. I have the ability to only assume that the next Sega Bass Fishing will now get an Adults Only rating for the gratuitous violence depicted toward the fish community. We’re training our children to be fishermen with these violent simulators and I won’t stand for it!

BAN THIS SICK FISHING FILTH!

The prudish Nick Chester first informed us of X-Blades, a new action title from Southpeak Games due for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Main character Ayumi is still as bare skinned as ever, with the kind of carefully draped rags that a pervert could merely wish away.

Southpeak Games promises “beautiful animation” and “relentless, high speed gameplay” involving the use of Ayumi’s pistol blades and magical spells. There will also be anime cutscenes, which you can’t sniff at, really.

X-Blades is looking and sounding like a very standard action game, but that’s fine by me. I’m always up for some generic third person exploration and combat, which is why I’ve been keeping an eye on X-Blades. I don’t anticipate it to revolutionize the gaming industry, but if it delivers a solid experience, I really couldn’t care much for desperate attempts at “innovation.”

In this week’s PlayStation Network Update, there’s plenty to play and watch, but only one of the items could help you win a new car. It doesn’t hurt that the GRID demo (961mb) is also pretty kick-ass. After getting the control scheme down, I found myself addicted to the drifting section of the demo.

Actually, all the demos are pretty good this week. There are demos for HAZE and The Bourne Conspiracy (each about 1.5gb), and the HAZE demo even supports multiplayer. The downloadable title Rocketmen: Axis of Evil also hits this week for $9.99, and the PixelJunk Monsters Encore expansion pack includes 15 new levels for $5.99.

Rock Band never misses a week, and this week they offer Scene Pack 01 ($5.49), which includes acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Fall Out Boy. Guitar Hero III has a Muse pack for $6.25.

As for freebies, there’s a bunch of PixelJunk Monsters goodies like wallpapers and a theme. There’s also the decidedly generic “sports theme.”

First off, I’d like to apologize for this Rock Band downloadable content update coming a bit late today; for whatever reason, the press release made its way into my spam folder. Maybe it was because it contained the words “blondie” and “goo.” Take that how you’ll …

Blondie’s “Hanging on the Telephone,” The Clash’s “Train in Vain (Stand by Me),” and Sonic Youth’s “Kool Thing” will all be available for download next week. As expected, each track will cost $1.99 a piece (or 160 MS Points), and will be available as a package for $5.49 (or 440 MS Points).

Sony’s wonderfully cute puzzle platformer, LittleBigPlanet, is still many months away from release, so it hasn’t yet been rated by the ESRB. But from everything we’ve seen, all indications point to the game receiving an ‘E’ rating; it looks enjoy it will truly appeal to all kinds of people, be they hardcore gamers, casual gamers, or non-gamers.

But up above is a newly-released trailer for LittleBigPlanet that, strangely, features an age gate — something that’s typically reserved for games like Age of Conan or Grand Theft Auto. What could possibly be behind the World wide web fixture that can be easily defeated by an eight-year-old? Perhaps it’s some “LittleBigPorn”, as Jim so elegantly put it.

Well, I’m not going to ruin the surprise (even though the GameVideos freeze-frame pretty much gives it away). See for yourself — if you’re at least 18 years old, that’s.

Earlier this week, we brought you news from Sony Europe’s Gamers Day in London, along with a trailer for Mirror’s Edge. Now, Sony has put out over three minutes of in-game video from Evolution Studios’ upcoming PS3-exclusive off-road racing sequel, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (n
