Those enlightened individuals who have experienced the rapidly metastasizing MMO hotel sim/social networking site known as Habbo (formerly Habbo Hotel) are already aware that the community for this “hangout for teens” is sizable, to say the least. Thus, when the Pixelated Nation of Habbonia endorses one of the current-gen consoles as being the “Console of Choice” for the teenaged, it resounds like the voice of a small nation — albeit a nation of furniture-hording hotel dwellers.
Nearly 57,000 Habbonians took part in the survey late last year, where 69 percent of the pixelated participants gave the PlayStation 3 “great or good” rankings, followed by 64 percent for the Wii, and 58 percent for the Xbox 360. The Global Habbo Youth Survey went on to show that females preferred the Wii and Habbonians located in the Americas were more favorable to the Xbox 360 than their Eastern Hemisphere suitemates. Not exactly new information, but it is an excellent excuse for us to repeatedly type the word Habbonian.

Team Criterion just posted new screenshot love of a just revealed Burnout Paradise island expansion that’ll be released as part of the August 2008 Davis update. The same update that’ll add motorbikes to Paradise City. You can view all four new island screenshots in the gallery below and before you look, we apologize for their small size. For whatever reason, Criterion doesn’t want to shower us with hi-res screenshot magic. Meh! Take in the new Davis island, dream of motorbike exhaust and the tropical sun … August is almost here!
Also, we embedded Criterion’s new making-of the fish market video after the break for those of you who get all giddy with excitement over seeing the development cycle in its rawest form.

Remember that upcoming XBLA title from The Behemoth called Castle Crashers that everyone and their mom can’t wait for? We know you do! According to artist Dan Paladin’s on the official Behemoth blog, the anticipated XBLA game is completed. But, before you start marking your calendars keep in mind the game is still far from ready.
“It has to go through all the required hoops of certification/final testing & all that jazz before it will actually become available on the service [XBLA],” wrote Paladin. While Paladin also mentioned the team is excited the game is hitting “the world,” he notes it still might be a number of months before we’re hacking-and-slashing our way through the world.
Now we play the waiting game… aw, the waiting game sucks. Let’s play Hungry Hungry Hippos.

The GameTrailers crew just posted an exclusive Dead Space trailer interestingly enough called”Exclusive Story Trailer“. We’re sure the “Exclusive” part of the name is referring to the GameTrailers exclusivity and one would thing the “Story” part of the name refers to some sort of story being told … yup, that’s it. There are story elements being told. Check the latest Dead Space trailer embedded above and wish you were equally cool as Isaac to possess a wicked awesome welder’s mask.

While each major company in the world attempts to bang into your head that they’ll never ask for your account information sometimes people don’t listen.
Unfortunately a scam, which appears to have been around for some time, promises free Microsoft points when you log into your .net Passport account. This site, and any site that promises the same, is 100% fake and will only lead to a headache like the reader who sent this in who had 5000 MS points bought with his credit card.
We know this isn’t the first, nor will it be the last, site to attempt to scam you but we hope to echo what you all should already know.
We won’t link the site itself, for fear of spreading the scam, but we would like to remind you of a few key things.
- Microsoft will only give points away during official contests that ALWAYS link directly back to a Microsoft site and those contests are always widely reported on X3F, Joystiq and other gaming sites
- Never, no matter what you’re promised, log into your account unless on officially sanctioned Xbox sites (Xbox.com, Bungie.net, ForzaMotorsport.net, etc.)
- Never give away your user name and password to anyone and remember Microsoft will never ask for this information
- Never give away your account details, including credit card information and mailing address
Don’t get caught in a scam, who knows how deep the rabbit hole goes if you do.
Check out our visual guide to spotting fake Microsoft sites used in similar scams. This guide isn’t foolproof however, so just steer clear from anything that promises anything!

As if the Europeans aren’t mad enough, Harmonix and MTV Games just sent us an email about next week’s downloadable Rock Band content for North America. Surprise! It’s all of the bonus tracks you guys are getting when the game finally ships this August next week!
“Beetlebum” (Blur)*
“Hier Kommt Alex” (Die Toten Hosen)
“Countdown To Insanity” (H-Block X)
“Perfekte Welle” (Juli)
“New Wave” (Pleymo)
“Monsoon” (Tokio Hotel)
“Hysteria” (Muse)
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” (Oasis)
“Manu Chao” (Les Wampas)
Each track will be available for $1.99 (or 160 MS Points), and will hit the Xbox 360 on Tuesday, Might 20, and the PlayStation 3 on Thursday, Might 22. Rock Band information fiend power-glove posted some videos earlier this day in his community blog, and I said: ” That bass chart on ‘Hysteria’ looks fun. Do want. Hope this hits DLC sooner rather than later in NA.”
So let me try this: I hope I get a pony sooner rather than later. I’ll get back to you guys and let you know how that works out.
(Note: That asterisk next to Blur’s “Beetlebum” means it’s not a master track. Bitch away, whiners.)

That crow’s for us. We really thought that HouseMarque had a snowboarding game up their sleeves. Too bad too, a new game in the vein of 1080 Snowboarding could’ve been great. Still, this does mean that the Live Arcade now has a proper golf game, rather than just a mini-golf one. Team Xbox posted some screens of the game a little early and the first look reveals a light-hearted take on the graphics not unlike Hot Shots Golf. While not for everyone a niche title like this does have its place and should hopefully add to the list of games that appeal to the so-called casual player.

For Bungie fans one name has been synonymous with a Halo branded encyclopedia of knowledge and human complaint cushion. Frank O’Connor, content manager at Bungie Studios, has announced he’s leaving his position and heading to Microsoft in order to work more closely on the Halo franchise.
In his final weekly update, Frankie thanks fans for their continued support and for not following up on various death threats made throughout the years. We’d like to believe that’s a joke, but we’re sure it isn’t.
Frankie left fans with something they’ve grown to anticipate from Bungie’s public face, a tease for the future. “I was busy working on a story for one of our next games, an experience that’s destined to surprise, amaze and entertain like nothing we’ve ever made before.” We know every Bungie fan is holding their breath for the next morsel of info that drops and can’t wait to see what Bungie has in store for the future.
Take care Frankie, and don’t be a stranger.

We love Hellboy. There’s no way around it really. From his square jaw to his stone fist to his glowing eyes, he really the most likable son of the devil we’ve ever known. Seeing as we like him so much, we really want Hellboy: Science of Evil to be a good game. We’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens. These new screens look decent enough, but the video looks … okay. We’re keeping our hopes as low as possible. With any luck, we’ll be pleasantly surprised. Check out all the new screens in the gallery below and find two more videos after the break.

Okay, with this fresh media form The Collective’s take on Silent Hill (subtitled Homecoming), our fears are somewhat allayed. Given that the new Silent Hill is being developed by an American team outside of Konami, we were initially skeptical. The new images and (finally!) video have made us feel just a little bit superior. First of all, the new score by longtime series composer Akira Yamaoka is in full effect and sets the mood nicely. Second, the game actually looks pretty good with combat in particular looking to be improved over previous iterations. But enough blather, check it out for yourself. Find three new videos embedded after the break.
