Microsoft and Tecmo this day announced that the whirlwind of blood and errant body parts known as Ninja Gaiden II has gone gold. In other words, the game is totally and completely completed and only awaits pressing and packaging before duplicates are whisked to retailers everywhere on June 3. The press release also announces that the remaining promotional Ask a Ninja episodes will arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace on Might 27, June 3 and June 10, so keep an eye out for those. Finally, a documentary entitled The Way of the Warrior: Ninja Gaiden II, which will air on Cablevision IO Digital on Might 30. The documentary will also be made available on XBLM starting June 10. The documentary focuses on “the history of the ninja and how it impacted the game” and purports to feature “members of Team Ninja, historical areas of Japan, real life ninjas and exclusive looks at behind-the-scenes footage.”
Strangely absent in the press release is any mention of the playable demo that’s supposed to drop sometime this month.

As part of their July Gears of War 2 extravaganza issue (which has yet to spill its contents), we’ve just encounter mention that EGM and 1UP are also set to release the first ever multiplayer footage from Gears of War 2. When will we get the GoW2 multiplayer video love? We aren’t exactly sure, but have a sneaky suspicion that the video will go live sometime around June 3rd when their July issue hits newsstands. We say bring on the 5v5 multiplayer footage right this very moment, so we can witness the use of meat shields and gather enough blood to fill all these buckets Cliffy told us to stock up on.

Recently, new information regarding Resident Evil 5 surfaced over at Games Radar, revealing all kinds of (yet to be confirmed) informative bits that are sure to make RE fans’ heart go a flutter. Sadly, the news post has since been removed (Capcom damage control?), but not before the crew over at Eurogamer copied all the goods.
According to the leak which we’re currently filing under the rumor category, the biggest RE5 feature reveal is that the game will include online enabled campaign co-op all the way through, where a second player will play as a female mercenary who’ll be present the entire game. If not player controlled, the game’s AI will take over. Other juicy details were mentioned including word that the mercenaries mini-game from RE4 will be back and the addition of a new cover system. As far as a release date goes, Capcom is said to be shooting for a 2009 release that should see RE5 on store shelves between January and March of next year. You can check out the other rumor’ish and spoiler’ish nuggets of RE5 campaign info after the jump.
[Thanks, Boff]

Given that Munch’s Odyssey was a launch title for the 360, and Stranger’s Wrath was quite good, it’s been a surprising that the franchise has not yet seen a another entry. Until now that is, because a new Oddworld is on the way. Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun is involved with the game, and comments that the team is very talented and that he has faith in their capability to create great content. If the new one took insipration from Stranger and added more quirky humor and fun, we’ll be all over this. Too bad Braun confirmed that it’s still years away ….

If the world was ruled by Telltale Games everyone would respect talking animals and Sam & Max would be on the Xbox Live Arcade, the second part at least is the word from Telltale’s Emily Morganti. In an interview with Jim Squires from THEBBPS, Morganti confirmed the developer still wants Sam & Max to visit the Arcade.
“We’d still like to do it. Our tools currently grant us to develop for Computer, Xbox 360, and Wii,” Morganti stated. “We’re not ruling out other platforms in the future. We’re interested in PlayStation, also… we want our games to be everywhere!”
Sam & Max has been a popular series for Telltale as the episodic adventure series has found success releasing exclusively with GameTap’s on the web service– a Computer version of Sam & Max: Season One was recently released to retail.
With the recent release of Penny Arcade Adventures’ first episode on Xbox Live Arcade and the current increase of file size for downloadable games, we’re hoping Sam & Max can find a home on the Xbox 360 in the very near future.

Update: Rumor official debunked. Cliff Bleszinski popped up on the NeoGAF forums to discredit these supposed EGM GoW2 details saying that whoever published this news is “making shit up”. Thanks for the clarification Cliffy.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of EGM’s special July issue featuring Gears of War 2 awesomeness that’s set to hit newsstands on June 3rd. But, if the rumors are true, we won’t have to wait until June to get the new feature reveals, because a helpful EGM subscriber claims to have already received his July issue and has spilled all the exclusive Gears 2 deets.
Over on the GameSpot forums, member Prosecut0rGodot claims to have already received a copy of EGM’s July issue and posted a recap of all the new Gears 2 details that were revealed. If true, EGM is stated to reveal new GoW2 features including co-op specific cut-scenes and decisions that’ll affect the game’s ending, a brand new stamina bar has been added and will dictate a player’s performance, a never before seen “Acheron” Locust creature will make an appearance and two new multiplayer modes were announced including the chainsaws only “En-Garde” mode. A few other goodies were supposedly revealed, so make your way towards the break to read the entire list of the rumored GoW2 info.

Update: Show’s over, folks.
Major Nelson sends word that the folks at Lionhead are showing off their latest playtest of Fable 2 right now and in real time. Okay, so it’s not really real time. In fact, it’s just a webcam that refreshes each ten seconds or so. Still, it’s Fable 2 and it’s playing right now. We realize it’s kind of lame but, if you have nothing superior to do (and we envision many of you do), it’s a good way to kill some time. There’s no telling just how long the “show” will last, so head over to the Lionhead site (select the Sam-Cam) and soak up as much as you can. Who knows, maybe we’ll even see some magic spells (finally).

Sony has two major FPS offerings on tap for releases in the next nine-odd months, both of which have plenty of similarities - not the least of which are their sci-fi trimmings. But how do they differ from one another … or stack up against other massive titles in the genre? Enter MTV’s Multiplayer, who have put together a nice comparative feature on the two games, covering points such as visuals, gameplay, and overall themes. Oh, and the abundance of earth tones, of course.
Is there room on PS3 for two similar first-party titles? We say “yes,” and “please make sure they’re superior than Haze.” Read on for Multiplayer’s observations, along with some developer insight on Sony’s positioning of both first-person battles against creepy creatures and … Space Nazis.
