If you recall, this past February a new (and still unannounced) Rock Band peripheral called the Stage Kit was spotted over on Gamestop’s website. Back then, we were only given images of what the light and smoke peripheral’s box looked like, but it was enough to warrant Stage Kit / WALLo.E / police spot light comparisons. Now, Gamestop has since updated their Stage Kit pre-order page with a new picture of the peripherals including what looks to be a 360 controller / strobe light hybrid. Gamestop also pegged the (GASP!) $100 peripheral for an August 15th release, so gather what info you can from that.

As real-time strategy games have their moment in the sun on the Xbox 360, the question of control always lingers. Can a controller simulate a mouse and keyboard properly to play an RTS?
The answer is no. It can’t. That’s why developers are rethinking the way RTS games handle on consoles and so far they’ve been pretty successful. Now the question is based on speed. Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath introduces a new scheme to the mix hoping to correct that problem with the new Command Stick. Promising to reduce the amount of clicking required to finish easy tasks like building your base and training new units, the Command Stick is expected to speed up the overall experience of the console RTS.
The video is embedded in low quality above, but for those purists who need to see it in HD jump over to Huge Download and download the full trailer in its high-resolution hotness.

Here’s the unboxing of Wii Fit. I actually picked it up on the 5/23, two days after it came out at Gamestop. Comes with the Wii Balance Board, Wii Fit disc, instructions, and 4 AA batteries. I also recorded my Xbox 360 setup for those who did not see it in my previous video, “Nintendo Wii Unboxing”.

In an interview with G4’s X-Play, Mark Mothersbaugh, member of the 80’s red hat wearing group Devo, confirmed that Devo will in fact be releasing three tracks to the Rock Band DLC library. Though, Mothersbaugh kept his cards close and didn’t reveal which Devo tracks they’ll be releasing, when they’ll hit the XBLM or for how much. But one thing that’s almost certain is that one of their Rock Band releases will be the uber hit “Whip It”. Because if they put out a three pack of DLC and don’t include “Whip It”, then we and thousands of fanboys will have to perform a Devo Rock Band DLC boycott. And yes, Devo, that is a threat.

- “Good Times Roll”
- “My Ideal Friend’s Girl”

- “Don’t Cha Stop”
- “You’re All I’ve Got Tonight”
- “Bye Bye Love”
- “Moving in Stereo”
- “All Blended Up”

After hearing about Microsoft’s controversial move to “delist” certain underperforming XBLA games, we questioned whether or not these delisted games would be available for re-download to those who already bought them. And, according to the Gamerscore Blog crew, the answer is yes. In other words, if you buy a delisted XBLA game before it gets delisted and for whatever reason it gets deleted from your HDD, you’ll ALWAYS be able to re-download it from your download history.
This news will of course beg the question why a need for delisting if the games will still be on Microsoft servers for previous purchasers to re-download. The answer to that is … erm, we dunno. Just be happy your craptacular delisted XBLA game buy didn’t go to waste.

Since the news that the Live Arcade would be having its under-performing titles de-listed, the tubes have discussed at length many of the implications. In a response that seems totally inevitable with hindsight, someone has put together a list of XBLA titles that conform to two of the three criteria outlined by MS for a de-listing (Metacritic score of less than 65% and at least six months old).
The third criteria isn’t accessible outside of Microsoft, and is the conversion rate, i.e. the percentage of demo downloaders who end up buying the full game. As we don’t know what games have good conversion rates, the games on the list are therefore not completely guaranteed to be in danger. But if there are any on the list that tickle your fancy, now is the time to try them, as they’re the most likely ones to leave the Marketplace.
Full list after the break.

When the demo of Codemaster’s newest racer was released at the beginning of the month, it was mostly to praise and positive feedback. Now as the month ends and GRID is nearly on store shelves, Atari has announced that the game’s demo has now been downloaded over a million times. If other demos that “went platinum” are any kind of indication, GRID is set for success.
Codemaster’s previous racer, DiRT, sold well initially, but never broke one million (at least in the US), so with a shift to an arcade style of racing and a customer base downloading the demo in massive numbers, GRID could be the next online racer to see million-plus sales. Considering the current debate surrounding the game, the community seems to be well aware of the game, so what of it readers? Will you be buying GRID come next Tuesday, or will Ninja Gaiden 2 be the major buy of the week?
