Care of the incredible episode of GameTrailers TV that aired tonight (or airs tonight, for you all on the West coast), here it is: the brand new, exclusive trailer for Resident Evil 5.
After viewing the trailer I thought about handling this post in one of two ways: 1) I could step back and objectively comment on some of the features highlighted in the trailer while dropping some basic info about the game (console, tentative release date, etc.) or 2) I could lose my mind with excitement and completely throw professionalism out the window.
You don’t have to be Professor Layton to figure out which one I chose.
OMG! OMG! OMG! RESIDENT EVIL 5! Are you kidding me with how incredible this game looks? The chainsaw guy is back! OMG! And the graphics? GORGEOUS! I can’t wait for this game! It’s like Resident Evil 4, only SHINY! I’m so excited! GAME OF THE YEAR MATERIAL! I CAN’T WAIT!

For those of you patient enough to wait, Major Nelson tipped gamers off to news that the Ninja Gaiden II demo should be hitting Xbox Live Marketplace by the end of next week. “Looking for the NG 2 Demo? I am told that it will be available by the end of next week,” reads Major’s Twitter page.
The demo, which was released this day on the Japanese Marketplace, features two levels one section from the upcoming game and showcases some of the various ways players will be able to cut dudes into bits-n-pieces.
Until then make sure to check out X3F Television where we dissect, no pun intended, the demo for the anticipated action title.
Update: The demo is actually the same as the Japanese release and features only one section, not two levels.

We’ve finally gotten our act together and are bringing you this very Friday edition of Video Marketplace Weekly to get you in the mood for a weekend full of lazy XBVM movie rentals. Usually we speak a swift and dirty recap about what new movies became available this past week, but this time there really is no need. There isn’t a need because one motion picture rental is all you should care about. There Will Be Blood. This film is a masterpiece, a Daniel Day Lewis epic and true actor’s acting movie that will knock you down only to stand you back up and knock you over once again. There Will Be Blood is a must see. And know that you’re getting your downloading money’s worth too, because the HD version clocks in at a ginormous 7.2GB in file size, where each MB is worth the wait. Go. Rent. Now.

EA recently released a new “issue” of their Dead Space comic and just like the first (this being the second), it’s a video comic with no reading in sight. You can view all the nearly nine minutes of comic book goodness in the video above.
A+ to you EA for blending an interesting backstory with pretty decent voice acting talent and a comic art style into Dead Space video entertainment. Also, for those who missed it, you can view the first issue of the Dead Space comic embedded after the break.

The kind souls at EA have given Destructoid 50 more demo tokens to give away. We’ve 25 codes for Xbox 360 and 25 for PlayStation 3 to giveaway. Just like yesterday, you’re going to have to put some effort into snagging these codes.
Lately, I’ve had a love for pictures containing awesome things happening in front of explosions. All you have to do to get these tokens is use a pic editing program to have something awesome happen in front of an explosion. It can be anything you want, so long as it’s in front of an explosion. The only restriction is that it has to be clean (no porn or gross stuff).
Put whatever you create in the comments below and make sure you specify what system you want the code for. Codes will be sent out throughout the day to the e-mail address associated with your Dtoid account. Good luck.

Even though details on the triumphant return of Beyond Good & Evil are scarce, Ubisoft has at least confirmed one thing that might worry hardcore fans of the game — the sequel is stated to be “more accessible” than the original, likely to ensure it actually sells this time.
“We saw with Beyond Good & Evil that so many customers were extremely happy with the game,” said Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot following the Ubidays ‘08 reveal. “We had a different audience at that time. We’d more core gamers than casual gamers than we have this day.”
“We think the game was probably a tiny too difficult for the general gamers at that time. We’re going to make [Beyond Good & Evil 2] more accessible and make sure that it’s really done for the new generation that’s come into video games.”
I have the ability to understand Ubisoft worrying after the financial flop that was the original, but did any of you really think it was a hard game? I didn’t think it was that difficult (save for the end boss, rargh), and I worry each time a game series threatens to dumb itself down. That said, given how badly the first game did, we’re lucky to get this sequel so I suppose one must find such compromises reasonable.

It’s still a rumor at this point, but the mighty Internet has been not so quietly rumbling about something called in-game XMB, and its connection to every firmware update the PS3 has ever had. Did you actually think that this one would be any different?
The latest word on the street has it that firmware update version 2.40 is the magic number — and we have the ability to expect it as soon as June. According to sources quoted by IGN, that universal friend’s list, trophies, and in-game messaging that PS3 owners have been jonesing over since the console was first released, will soon be a reality.
Keep in mind that we’ve all been down this road many times before, so keep your enthusiasm to a minimum until something concrete is announced by Sony. However, we invite you to think about the timing of this whole thing. With Metal Gear Solid 4’s June release date — Could you think of a better time than now for Sony to step up to the plate deliver a nice two-pronged attack? We can’t either.
[Thanks, Adam]
