Since Gears of War 2’s GDC announcement we’ve known that the second Emergence Day would come sometime this November, but for obsessive fanboys a general thirty day release window isn’t good enough. We need a specific date. That’s why when we heard that Mighty Rasta, the voice actor for GoW2’s Augustus Cole, hinted about the game’s release date recently, our inner fanboy got a tad bit excited.

As part of the TriForce panel at Wizard World, Rasta and crew chatted about Gears 2 and some really special Gears replicas. Then someone asked about Gears of War 2’s release date, the TriForce crew refused to comment but Mr. Rasta recommended asking the release date question on November 16th. A not so subtle hint that (mathematically) has a 25% chance at being correct even if Rasta knows nothing about the game’s official release. Though, the release would be a odd seeing that November 16th falls on a Sunday which isn’t traditionally a weekday that sees video game releases. Ahhh heck, we’re optimists here and are sticking by Rasta’s release date hint. November 16th here we come!

We’re offended by the above joke. We tend to look up bunnies all the time, at odd moments, but we don’t have A.D.D. Here are our picks for the week’s ideal game-related webcomics; voting after the break.

Epic Boobs

One of the questions that seemed to come up often: How do you turn an indie game into an epic RPG? The answer is: one quest at a time. Or something less cliched, but you know what I mean.

I think that when people think of RPGs, one word comes to mind: EPIC. At least it seems that way because each print ad for an RPG has the word EPIC splattered on it. We seem to love big things. Especially if they come in pairs. And sit comfortably on a chest. Huge is a selling point.

World of Warcraft took 6 years to make and cost as much as a blockbuster movie. The Elder Scrolls games are touted as big worlds (Daggerfall was twice the size of Great Britain!) One of the key selling points for any RPG is how many hours of gameplay it comes with: “+101 hours of gameplay! Guaranteed enough to keep your muscles atrophied all summer long!” So I have the ability to see how people think it’s crazy to build an indie RPG.

The party game is a curious genre. Most other game genres describe some inherent characteristic of the game. Adventure games take you adventuring, shooters let you shoot aliens and/or Nazis, and sandbox games are usually full of bugs, just like a real sandbox.

But if you want to play a party game, it is best to have a party handy. By this measure, Wii owners must be virtual Paris Hiltons, luxuriating in a vast wealth of brief social interactions punctuated by furious bouts of waggling. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 and PS3 owners lie staring at the ceiling while Dark Side of the Moon repeats a fourth time.

Into this bleak emotional void marches Hail To The Chimp: A Presidential Party Game. The politically-themed title will be sworn in June 24 on Xbox 360 and PS3; it is published by GameCock and developed by Stubbs The Zombie creators Wideload Games. To celebrate the release of their celebration game, Chicago-based Wideload held a (wait for it…) celebration. Impressions after the jump.

We’re really intrigued by Street Fighter IV, but not nearly as intrigued as we are by the trailer released by Capcom at Captivate08. Reminiscent of a fan-made YouTube video, the latest trailer for Street Fighter IV plays out as Faith No More’s hit-song, “Epic,” blasts in the background. We never thought we’d see Street Fighter marketed that way. Either way, the footage looks solid and we can’t wait to get some quality time with Capcom’s best-selling franchise again. Wait, Jean Claude Van Damme played Guile didn’t he? Guess no one knows how Street Fighter should be marketed!

Lucasarts debuted the latest trailer for the upcoming action-shooter, Fracture, on GameTrailers early Saturday morning. Setting the stage for a war that takes place between a split United Says, two factions face-off for dominance over the nation. The evil-doers, known as the Pacificans, have modified DNA to create a stronger, more dominant race while the Atlantic Alliance have put their effort into creating advanced cybernetics to thwart a Pacific attack. With an interesting concept and unique gameplay (terraform weapons look awesome!) can Fracture make a name for itself when it hits this October? Time will tell. Also, Pacificans? Really?
