Just because Peter Moore is the head of EA Sports doesn’t mean that he’s a stuffy old “suit”. He’s a pretty skilled gamer in his own right, and that was put to the test on this past Friday’s episode of GameTrailers Television. Moore faced off against the show’s host, the affable Geoff Keighley, in a match in FaceBreaker, the upcoming arcade-style boxing videogame from EA.
FaceBreaker will be the first title to be released under EA’s new “EA SPORTS Freestyle” sub-brand, a label whose games will be aimed squarely at the growing “casual” sports gaming market. Of course, the requisite buzzwords associated with casual gaming are in full effect here: “pick-up-and-play”, “inclusive”, and “casual” — not that that’s a bad thing, of course. In fact, I’m really looking forward to FaceBreaker, because I’d love to have something sports-related to play with my non-sports-gaming friends.
The video above doesn’t just comprise the Keighley-Moore fight; much of it consists of an extended interview regarding the game, as well as some trash talking. The whole thing is three minutes and forty seconds long, but if you’re solely interested in the fight, jump in at the two-and-a-half-minute mark. I won’t give away the winner; you’ll just have to watch for yourself.
Of note is that both men played with created characters that bore striking resemblances to their real-life counterparts; apparently, you’ll be able to use the Xbox Live Vision Camera to insert yourself into the game (no word yet on whether the game will also be compatible with the PlayStation Eye). FaceBreaker is currently set for a September 5th release; for a number of character videos, check out the game’s page at GameTrailers.
[Thanks, Justin!]

We reported a few days back that the latest issue of GamePro magazine would include some new Halo Wars details, facts and info. And now we’re pleased to make it known that leaked magazine scans have finally made it online and do offer up a rather satisfying dose of Halo Wars newsness.
Halo Wars Addict posted scans of all ten pages of GamePro’s Halo Wars article (you know, for those outside the Says who can’t view the magazine’s contents any other way …) and inside we learn about the game’s current control scheme, new UNSC automobiles including Vultures, Cyclops and Cobras as well as mention that the campaign will be a combination of human and Covenant worlds. Also, even more exciting is confirmation that Halo Wars will boast six player Xbox Live multiplayer AND feature two person on the internet co-op as well! Purchase a copy of GamePro’s July issue to read about all the Halo Wars goodness or … uhhh … go here.

Crytek Engine business manager Harald Seeley has confirmed in an interview with Next-Gen that the recently announced Crysis Warhead will remain a Computer exclusive due to being so far along in development. All of Crytek’s future projects are still planned to be multiplatform, however, due to the developer’s problem with high piracy rates.
“Of course Warhead has been under development for quite some time, and we had no desire or intention to disappoint our loyal Computer fans. So, after some careful consideration, we decided to continue our support for the Personal computer Crysis franchise with this release. But yes, all new franchises we develop in the future will be created with a cross platform strategy in mind.”
Seeing as Crytek is so concerned with piracy, it stands to reason that they might decide to go overboard with DRM, but thankfully Seeley reveals that this might not be the case.
“While we’re certainly very concerned about piracy and copy protection, we’re also concerned about the potential opposite problem, that of inconveniencing legitimate buyers with newer measures that interfere too greatly with their enjoyment of the product. So we are carefully considering all possible options here, however we’re not yet at a stage where we have made a final decision.“

Surprisingly, Strarbreeze’s last-gen Xbox/PC title, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay still stands up pretty well this day. So when Vivendi and Starbreeze announced that a next-gen remake called Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena was in the works, I was thrilled.
