Exciting news Alone in the Dark fanboys, Atari just announced today that the Joystiq approved and fire friendly Alone in the Dark has wrapped up development and has gone gold. Currently being copied to DVD at some manufacturing plant overseas, Alone in the Dark will arrive on the Xbox 360 in Europe on June 20th and a few days later, June 24th to North America. And for comparison’s sake, it will release to the PS3 sometime later his Fall. Central Park won’t be the same later this month, so we advise walking your dog or doing the picnic thing in the park prior to experiencing Alone in the Dark.

Earlier this morning, Criterion revealed that the second Burnout Paradise patch dubbed “Cagney” will be made available on Thursday, July 10th. With it, Cagney will bring new newness to the Burnout Paradise world, including three additional freeburn modes (Road Rage, Stunt Run and Marked Man), 70 new freeburn challenges, new vehicles, the addition of custom tracks and a ginormous list of gameplay tweaks and repairs. Not bad. Looking out a bit further, we still have motorcycles coming via the Davis patch in August as well as an island expanding Eastwood patch releasing sometime this Fall. As the saying goes, if you’re a Paradise developer, you’re a busy developer.

An interesting rumor coming from our chums over at Sarcastic Gamer tells us that, according to their “people”, they’ve been informed that voice actor Michael Ironside (the iconic voice behind Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher) has been axed and will not voice Fisher in the upcoming release Conviction. Sarcastic Gamer’s tipster didn’t give any reason for Ironside’s dismissal, but we have a feeling that, if this turns out to be true, the almighty dollar would be to blame. Let’s just hope this rumor ends up being hogwash, because we think we can all concur that Sam Fisher isn’t Sam Fisher without Ironside behind the mic. Ubisoft, with fury in our eyes and fists clenched, we’re warning you. Don’t you screw Conviction up like this.

This week’s lineup of new Xbox 360 games just might be the most random in the console’s history. Given the caliber of the competition’s major release this week, it seems doubly so. Seriously, look at the lineup of games we’ve this week:
We’ve stock car racing, boxing with large-haired flair, anime fighting, and a game about perilous fishing. We ask you, dearest fanboys and girls, which of these games is the highlight this week? Ponder that for a while and see if you can’t help us figure it out. We’ll be playing Ninja Gaiden II.
Note: Deadliest Catch should be coming out for real this time. It seems it was listed by mistake last month.

2K Games has just announced that Civilization IV: Colonization is currently in development at Firaxis as part of the Games for Windows brand. This new standalone game will serve as an update to Meier’s 1994 PC title, Colonization. Players will take the role of colonists from England, France, Spain, or the Netherlands, seeking freedom and independence in the New World.
Civilization IV: Colonization will feature an improved diplomacy system, historical figures that’ll guide your nation depending on gameplay choices, a new interface designed to be more accessible, on the web multiplayer and play by e-mail modes. The requisite map editor and other unnamed modding tools will also be making an appearance.
I’ve always enjoyed the Civilization series and had been getting a bit bummed at Civilization: Revolution’s console-only status, but having this to look forward to makes me a very happy camper.
Civilization IV: Colonization will be releasing sometime this fall. Is anyone else psyched to be getting a remake of another classic Meier game?

Initial D, the Japanese street racing manga turned Sega racing game, has been released on just about every platform since the Sega Saturn. The latest in the series, Initial D: Extreme Stage, will be making its way to the PlayStation 3, and Siliconera has some new footage from the game.
Set to be released next month in Japan, Extreme Stage will use the PlayStation Network to make up for the lack of local 2-player action.

9:00AM pacific has come and gone and guess what children? We still don’t have a Blu-ray equipped Xbox 360 to announce, because it isn’t real. So, that CrunchGear rumor was a total bust, who would have guessed? But we really didn’t have to wait until this morning to be disappointed, because Microsoft’s own Robbie Bach already dispelled (for the 39th time) any Blu-ray / Xbox 360 integration yesterday during an interview with SFGate. Again, Bach pretty much reiterated the fact that the Blu-ray format isn’t something Microsoft is interested in adding to the 360 and doesn’t think consumers really see value in it. Oh, and if you were excited about a Zune Phone (and really, who isn’t?) don’t hold your breath. Bach squashed that rumor too.
