It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything about Square Enix’s MMORPG Concerto Gate. We told you last fall that the Computer title is actually coming to the US by way of OnNet USA, but we haven’t heard much more past that.

Today the “debut” trailer for Concerto Gate surfaces, courtesy of GameVideos. Sure, it’s mostly anime cutscenes, but it’s superior than nothing, and I think we’re getting a taste of the rumored Kenji Ito/Hiroki Kikuta soundtrack in it. Of course, if you hate Computer MMOs, anime, and game music, this footage will do nothing for you.

If this wasn’t enough for you, you can poke around the official Japanese Web site for Concerto Gate.

We’re still waiting on that promised public beta!

I might not be the biggest American McGee fan, but I have the ability to never pass up a good videogame intro song. Needless to say, the opening number for American McGee’s Grimm does not fail on that front.

The concept of turning family-friendly fairy tales into their original, dark forms is an interesting one, but I haven’t seen enough of the 24-part episodic series to make up my mind on the game yet.

I will, however, say with certainty that I’m liking Grimm’s art style quite a bit (not to mention the title of the game).

GameTap subscribers can check out American McGee’s Grimm when it arrives this July.

[Thanks, Professor Pew!]

So here I am, working on an indie game project, and I’ve come upon my first fork in the road.

As we map out our plans for a traditional RPG with pop culture trappings, a couple of us working on the project are split on which viewpoint works ideal for a game of this nature. Because we’re currently looking to develop the game in 2D, we are looking at either a top down view, or an isometric viewpoint (2.5D as some call it.)

So there are two camps. Which one are you in? It isn’t just a matter of artstyle, as it also affects the way the controls work as well. Hit the jump to post your comments, and to see some early design work!

Majestic’s Limbo of the Lost is a PC game with some balls. Not so much because it pushes boundaries or introduces risky new gameplay elements that we’ve never seen before, but because it has the brazen brass ones to rip off entire sections of 2006’s most popular RPG without any shame whatsoever.

The theft was discovered by GamePlasma (site might be down due to being linked like crazy) who provided comparison shots of Oblivion backgrounds and Limbo backgrounds. The results are completely stunning and you can find two of the shots right here. Aside from the character, hand and compass, everything in the Limbo screenshot is directly lifted from Bethesda’s Oblivion, including the exact same portrait hanging on the wall. It’s also likely that the game stole from other titles including Diablo 2, Painkiller, Thief, UTK3, Morrowind and even Silent Hill 4. That’s pretty astounding.

If it was just that one hall, maybe Limbo would have gotten away with it. Unlikely, but maybe. However, a whole host of Oblivion scenes have been lifted and stitched into Majestic’s version of what could only be called a game development heist. Now that the jig is up, publisher Tri Synergy has ceased distribution of the game, stating it was “just as shocked as everyone else” to find out about the dirty theft. It currently awaits word from the culprits themselves.

I’m not so much shocked about Limbo of the Lost stealing whole scenes from another game, but the idea that Majestic felt it could steal from one of the most well-known games of current years and even hope to get away with it. Remember, when you need to steal something, steal from below to a lesser game. Never steal upwards, you incompetent boobs!

Peter Moore, posting on his official EA Sports blog of awesomeness (yes, he too has one), we get an inside peek into what’s going over in the mysterious lands of EA’ville learning that it’s annual review time once again. A time where each and every high paid employee is evaluated, compared and rated accordingly to their performance goals. Yup, EA runs a tight ship. And Mr. Peter Moore himself is not immune to such reviews and promises to take “ink action” if he fails to reach his goals. Moore explains that “we’re hitting this season in terms of quality and innovation stronger than we ever have at EA SPORTS”, promising that “if I’m wrong, you’ll see me sporting a new tattoo - maybe a competitor’s logo?” Nice move Moore. Putting your forehead where your mouth is, that’s our kinda guy.

It has been quite a while since U.S. Video Marketplace fanboys have had a chance to download a free TV episode without having to complete a website registration. So, with a noticeable gleam of happiness on our face, we present to you a free XBVM download of ABC’s The Middleman. We aren’t sure how amusing this “The Pilot Episode Sanction” episode of The Middleman is, but it’s free so there really isn’t any harm. That’s unless you’ve to remove XBLA games or game demos from your hard drive to make space, then we advise thinking about your downloading actions.
