Spooky, isn’t it? Actually, no, it is not. I haven’t had anything unusual happen to me today, but I suppose that’s actually a good thing, boring as it may be.

Now that I got that semi-unrelated anecdote out of the way, here’s some actual content: retro gamers can now join in the fun with the rest of us, as this week’s Friday Night Fights includes the original Castlevania as a part of Cowzilla3’s excellent Educate Yourself series.

Besides that, everything else is pretty much the same old story, although we could use some more Xbox 360 hosts. Hit the comments if you’re up to the task!

Funcom sure does have a lot to be happy about with their new MMORPG, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Having already shipped over a million copies and enjoying generally favorable reactions from reviewers, the game certainly is off to a good begin. Heck, it’s already gotten its own clothing line.

All is not sunny in the virtual world that Robert E. Howard built, however. Players that are much superior at power leveling than I could ever hope to be were quick to point out that there was a big lack of mid-to-high-level content. To address this issue, Funcom has brought word on several huge updates that’ll be released in the coming months.

First off, PvP will be receiving some tweaks with the implementation of the Fugitive system, which makes it easier for other players to hunt you if you’ve been killing their lower-level friends. New ranks and PvP specific equipment will also be added.

The update that will probably most excite fans of large-scale battles is the capability to form guild alliances. These alliances will allow players to control far more territory than they would on their own, and should add in something of a political element as guilds team up and betray one other to advance their own causes. They will also be able to construct alliance Battlekeeps and “wonders of the world,” which they have the ability to then kill each other over as they fight to possess them.

Hit the jump for the rest of the updates.

Because we know you just can’t enough Blu-Ray Xbox 360 rumors, we present to you more speculative proof that a Blu-ray equipped 360 is in the works over in Redmond. Or so that’s what we speculate …

Take a look at the screenshot above that was taken from a recent MyPoints.com survey that has been making the web rounds. The survey question simply asks which of the listed products the survey taker currently owns. Simple enough, but do you notice anything that just doesn’t look right? No, we aren’t talking about the Vornado Vacuum Cleaner (though it does sound suspicious), look one line below that. For whatever reason, this MyPoints.com survey lists an Xbox 360 with Blu Ray Disc Player as a survey option. An odd survey choice seeing that a Blu-ray Xbox 360 doesn’t eveb exist. Does MyPoints.com know something we don’t or did they just make a mistake? An even more import question to ask is whether these Blu-ray 360 rumors will ever come to an end.

Update 2: We didn’t misread the article, those sly IGN foxes ninja changed the DLC’s release date on their article. Proof that they initially reported June 17th. Those sly foxes …

Update: We misread IGN’s article, the “Doolittle” album DLC will be available in two weeks on June 24th.

Beating Harmonix to the weekly Rock Band DLC announcement punch, IGN is reporting that on Tuesday, June 17th June 24th some pixified complete album DLC will be making its way to the XBLM. More specifically, the Pixies’ 1989 “Doolittle” album will be available as Rock Band DLC next week, featuring fourteen tracks (listed after the break) all for purchase as an album for 1520 Microsoft points ($19) or individually for 160 points ($2) per track. We already enjoy jamming to “Wave of Mutilation”, so we can only hope more Pixies DLC will equal more enjoyable Rock Band funnery. All fourteen new “Doolittle” DLC tracks listed after the break.

Going into this we’ll be as upfront and honest as you can anticipate a fanboy to be. Overall, May’s NPD numbers are not all that peachy for team Microsoft and the Xbox 360. No, they aren’t horrible by any means, but they surely aren’t anything to write home about.

So, let’s get the icky news out of the way first. Just as the analysts predicted, console sales in general did not see any magical Grand Theft Auto IV effect. The Xbox 360 was only able to move about 186K units in Might while Sony was able to do a bit superior selling around 208K PS3s and the Wii just keeps on selling like crazy, moving an extraordinary 675K units. And although GTAIV didn’t spur new hardware sales it did itself sell very, very well. Being one of the only pro-Xbox 360 highlights in this May NPD report is mention that the 360 version of GTAIV outsold the PS3 version almost two to one, selling some 871K units compared to the PS3’s 442K. And you’re correct, we will take pride in that GTAIV sales fact.

Check the break for a complete breakdown of May’s NPD report including the top ten video games and a list of all console sales. Also, we advocate putting on two layers of fanboy armor, because we’ve a hunch that you’ll need double protection this month.

Oh, Fable 2, we want to play you so bad. Why can’t you be available right now? Sigh, if only it were true. It’s not though, so we’ll have to settle for a handful of new screenshots (peep them in the gallery below) and an update on the game’s development from Lionhead. First of all, the next Fable 2 video diary is completed and will be released on June 24. The update also hints that there will be more news this month, though the only hint we’re given is that it will be good for “fans of stories” and that there will also be “MORE” news after that. We’re looking forward to the first piece of news (we are fans of stories after all), but the cryptic nature of the second bit of news has our interest piqued. Perhaps they’ll finally, finally, completely officially confirm that online co-op will be in Fable 2. At the very least, maybe we’ll learn just when we can give Peter Molyneux our money and procure our own copy of the game.

If you aren’t doing too much this Sunday, then you might want to sit yourself down on the couch, turn on your 360 (as if you weren’t going to do that anyway) and play some Halo 3 with Wanted motion picture star James McAvoy, because he’ll be on the internet as part of Xbox.com’s Game With Fame. And while sticking spiker grenades in his melon or filling his chest full of pink needles, you might be able to chat it up and speak about how Wanted co-star Angelina Jolie keeps her unnaturally supple lips so plump. Or you could question him about his supposed involvement in The Hobbit. Or you could just play Halo 3 and refrain from badgering him with annoying questions. But that’s no fun. We demand our Jolie lip questions be answered!
