At the very beginning of Lionhead’s latest Fable 2 Video Diary 6, Mr. Peter Molyneux can be seen sitting at his desk with pen and paper in hand, circling boxing-in the word “October” on a piece of paper. We actually spotted Molyneux’s mysterious October hint yesterday when we posted the video diary, but now we’re even more suspicious about its meaning after Lionhead refused to comment on the video or the October date when Eurogamer asked for more details. An official October Fable 2 release date? An elaborate trick by the Lionhead crew? Or does Molyneux simply utilize the stress relieving technique of writing down one’s favorite month and boxing it in with a pen? You be the judge.

Apparently putting two Penny Arcade entries doesn’t split the votes but somehow garners Tycho and Gabe with over 50% of the weekly webcomic wrapup’s votes.
First place goes to “The Gabriel Method,” third place goes to “The Flavor Method” and sanwiched in between is Rooster Teeth. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know what game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Blizzard’s new splash page has set the web on fire. With the developer’s Worldwide Invitational set to start this Saturday in Paris, we’ve got about three more days to speculate wildly as hundreds of “top secret inside sources that are 110% reliable” feed us tips about the large news.
The top two rumors seem to be Diablo 3 and a Wrath of the Lich King release date, but we think anything’s possible — if you recall, last year’s massive announcement was Starcraft II. (Our money is on a Wii-exclusive Blackthorne FPS) Tell us, what do you think is Blizzard’s ice-shattering announcement?

After nothing but screenshots, Cyanide has finally unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Blood Bowl. The first part of the teaser is animated, but towards the end we get to see what the game is looking like in action. There’s even cheerleaders! … I hope there aren’t any Orc cheerleaders …
I’ve been excited for Blood Bowl ever since first hearing of the game. I’m not much of a sports fan, but how can anyone resist playing something like this? It’s a football game where you can play

The state of Computer gaming has been a hot topic in current months. Some members of the industry have maintained a positive outlook while others have been a bit more negative. Now Microsoft VP John Schappert has decided to chime in and concur with the former group, saying that things are fine and dandy in the land of mice and keyboards.
“Today I’m excited to report that Microsoft and a growing community of the gaming industry’s leading publishers, hardware manufacturers and retailers have made the Windows-based Computer the largest gaming platform in the world. Every major region will see Computer gaming continue to grow in audience, game revenue and hardware buys for the foreseeable future. While the challenges we face as an industry are many, Computer gaming has never been stronger, and we’re confident this trend will continue in the years to come,” he stated before a Games for Windows event earlier today.
“The past year has seen exponential growth in on the internet activity and sales, continued platform and hardware innovation, and continued success with the Games for Windows branding initiative, which adds prominence, a quality and technical bar, and a consistent look and feel to the retail Computer gaming experience.”
Schappert backed up his statement by releasing a list of sixteen games (viewable after the jump) that’ll be releasing under the Games for Windows brand in the next few months.
While I certainly agree with his overall message that PC gaming isn’t going away any time soon (one need only look at the billion-plus install base to realize that), I’m not sure that these games were necessarily the best example of that — all of them besides Crysis Warhead, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, and Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection are cross-platform. Still, for those of us in the old guard that prefer to have physical copies of the games we’ve bought, it’s nice to see Microsoft stick up for the retail side of Personal computer gaming.

SouthPeak Games’ super-cute puzzle game Roogoo is now available on the PC for everyone that hasn’t already downloaded it on Xbox Live Arcade.
Roogoo’s story revolves around collecting the different shaped meteors that regularly fall on the planet Roo before King Moo’s — previously King Goo — son, Prince Moo, can. The reason for this is because King Moo ate some of these meteors and used them to power big cities, thereby corrupting the native Roogoo by turning them into Meemoo. Your band of Roogoo freedom fighters is planning to use the meteors to restore everyone before the king can use them to make things even worse.
Yeah, the story really isn’t all that important. All you need to know is that you’ll be matching blocks with similarly shaped holes by rotating various platforms. The gameplay itself is pretty easy and straightforward, but that doesn’t stop it from being a fun timewaster.
One thing I would advocate if you’re thinking about getting this game and have a 360 is to download it on that. The reason being that the Computer release costs $20, $10 more than on XBLA, and doesn’t appear to include any extras.

Here are some new Fallout 3 screens. OK, let me back up for a second and say we think these are new Fallout 3 screens. That last few times Bethesda Softworks has sent some screens our way, a few of you’ve yelled “OLD!” in our general direction. In any case, here they’re, and not much has changed — we’d still step on your grandma to get our hands on this game.
What more is there to state really? We’d a first look preview of the game about a year ago, and it looked great then. Then, we saw it — but didn’t play it — again back in April and it was looking even superior. Stop teasing us already, Bethesda. Cough up the goods, God damn it.
We’ll be playing it soon, though. We’ve scribbled something that looks like “Fallout 3″ in our E3 planners (although it kind of looks like “failrat” upon further inspection), so look for hands-on coverage next month.
