On August 4, 1997, Skynet went on the web, and shortly thereafter it became self-aware. Thankfully, John Connor saved humanity from the possible nuclear oblivion that would have been wreaked by Skynet and its army of cyborgs. This new machine, the Novint Falcon, looks just as formidable as a mimetic polyalloy cop with a funny gait, but instead of traveling back in time to kill, it merely functions as a 3D videogame controller.

The Novint Falcon can simulate each semblance of 3D space, as Niero explained at CES in 2007. It also has room for attachments, to make the gaming experience more refined. The Novint Falcon is manufactured by Novint Technologies and carries the heavy price tag of $239, which doesn’t exactly make it the most inexpensive robot for the doomsday enthusiast with a budget.

Upon release, the biggest problem with Novint Falcon was its lack of support by developers.

An unsubstantiated little birdie recently told VE3D that everyone’s favorite, but perhaps slightly delayed, tough guy will not be appearing at E3 this year. Of course, this is probably not shocking news, considering that Duke Nukem Forever has not been at an E3 event since 2001, when 3D Realms dramatically revealed a trailer for the title.

This is the exact opposite of what happened in 2005, where rampant rumors dictated that Nukem could pop in with 3D Realms’ bedfellow, Prey. It is interesting to note that the press on Duke Nukem Forever has increased by at least one billion percent over the last few weeks. First, there was the gameplay footage revealed on the premiere of The Jace Hall Show. Then a few days ago, a job ad was posted over at 3D Realms with a tiny tiny picture of the Duke.

I contacted 3D Realms president George Broussard for comment, so maybe if we all sit in a circle together and pray, a response will be gifted upon us. I’m the kind of guy who enjoys first-person shooters that spew outdated clich

Does the thought of your level 70 Tauren shaman being hijacked by unsavory account hackers keep you lying awake until the wee hours of the morning? Does the idea of someone else getting their dirty mitts on your epic mount send you into a cold sweat? If these examples are the kind of worries that are constantly on your mind, then this product announcement from Blizzard might finally help set you at ease.

The Blizzard Authenticator is a small device that, once linked up with your World of Warcraft account, will be required to login or access the Account Management page. It does this by generating a random six-digit code that acts as a sort of second password. It’ll also be waterproof and fit on a keychain, in the event that you want to take it with you to the beach.

“It’s important to us that World of Warcraft offers a safe and enjoyable game environment,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “One aspect of that is helping players avoid account compromise, so we’re pleased to make this additional layer of security available to them.”

The Blizzard Authenticator will first be available at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational that’s taking place the 28th and 29th of this month, and will then be available at the Blizzard store thereafter for the price of six euros. Will any resident WoW players be picking one up once they’re available?

Sorry the video quality is a little bit odd, the program that saves the video as youtube format speeds up certain parts, none-the-less I have the only video of Pariah on the torpedo projector.

Some state they were picked by merit of being Penny Arcade. Still, we think this strip was rather poignant and quite deserving in its own right of this week’s Webcomic Wrapup. We’d love to present a trophy, but we’re not so good in the art department and Gabe doesn’t return our emails. Maybe we have to beat him at WoW TCG to get his attention.

Second and third place go to 2P Start and CAD, respectively. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any gaming comics you stumble upon this week! Well, actually … since we’ve to get back on schedule, you’ve only got about 20 hours to get our attention.

It certainly has been a while in coming (so much so that we were beginning to wonder if something bad had happened to it), but there’s finally some news regarding N+’s downloadable content. In a new post over at the Metanet developer blog informs the world that the three DLC packs for N+ has been sent off to Microsoft for final certification before release.

Of the three packs one will be free, one will be multiplayer maps, and the level total for the whole shebang is over 750. Exactly how those seemingly disparate pieces of info come together for the exact details of each pack is still unknown. However we do know that the devs are shooting for 200pts for each of the pay-to-play packs, which seems like the perfect price point to us.

The Spore Creature Creator is a fun tool for the industrious among us. Spawning the very special and customizable little monsters might be a lonely experience at the moment, but no one would know by looking at the numbers. According to the Spore homepage, there have been over 1 million user-created monsters since the launch of the Creator. Interestingly, it looks as though the majority of the million lack the flair of a sexual organ or a resemblance to popular video game characters.

When asked about the benchmark, executive producer Lucy Bradshaw of Maxis had this to say:

Maxis is excited, humbled and inspired by the explosion of creativity that we’ve seen with the Spore Creature Creator online.

Basketball is truly a global sport. It may have been invented in America in 1891 by James Naismith, but today’s NBA features players from countries as diverse as China, Spain, Russia, Argentina, and Zaire. So, as with NHL 09, EA Sports has chosen to go global in promoting its annual basketball title: this year, no North American player will grace the cover of NBA Live.

Instead, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker will be the cover athlete for NBA Live 09 in most of the world. The native of France, who happens to be married to Eva Longoria, has been the game’s coverboy in that country for five years running, and now he’s making the jump to the large time. Parker is a two-time All-Star and was the MVP of last year’s NBA Finals.

But residents of the UK, Spain, and Italy will get to see their compatriots on their respective localized versions of NBA Live 09. The Chicago Bulls’ small forward, Luol Deng — who might or may not be equipped with a loldong — will be the man on the box in the UK; Deng was born in the Sudan, but was raised in London. In addition to being named to the 2004-05 NBA All-Rookie First Team, Deng was given last year’s NBA Sportsmanship Award, as voted by the players.

Italian basketball fans are surely familiar with Toronto Raptors power forward Andrea Bargnani, who was the top pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. The Italian version of NBA Live 09 will feature him on its cover. Lastly, en Espa
