I’ve always been a fan of flight combat games — even though I’ve never been very good at them. There’s just something about flying over wide open landscapes — while simultaneously firing off missiles at the punks that dare to invade my airspace — that just never seems to get old. That’s one of the reasons why if I’m playing a game that features aerial vehicular combat (like Warhawk), I’ll jump in a plane the first chance I get … and subsequently get shot down a few seconds later.

Yep, really the only thing that can make flying more appealing to me is to change the planes to spaceships, stick ‘em in outer space, and add lots of blazing lasers. This is why NetDevil’s upcoming MMO Jumpgate Evolution appeals to me so much: it contains all of the above!

If twitch-based space combat is something that interests you, too, then you might want to head on over to the game’s freshly launched official Web site and sign up for the upcoming shut beta. There’s only a limited amount of spots open, so don’t put it off for too long.
