The only Virtua Fighter 5 Xbox Live match I saved when I used to play. This was before I learned Brad’s counter-kick, clench-combo, and stun-strike. I’m sorry about the game commentary, I think it’s auto-perma-on in replay mode.

Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger got its FPS in my RTSPosted by: admin in PC Game News
I like strategy games. I mean really like them. There’s just something about building structures and sending little units to their deaths that can keep me captivated for hours on end. Maybe that just means I have all the makings of a power-mad infrastructurally-concerned dictator; the kind of power-mad infrastructurally-concerned dictator that’s really helpful to have on your side in 2v2 matches. I also like shooting stuff, but hey, what power-mad infrastructurally-concerned dictator in training doesn’t? It is for these two reasons that SouthPeak Games has caught my attention with the announcement of their new game, Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger, which promises to blend together both genres: very much like a tasty, virtual, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Raven Squad will be putting you in command of eight mercenaries that end up in the Amazon behind enemy lines. Each of these soldiers will have their own one-of-a-kind weapons and abilities which will need to be properly utilized in order to escape the malaria-imbued rainforest. This is done by switching between them, and a strategic interface, at will. Kind of sounds a bit like 2003’s Savage: except that there aren’t any other players on your team, and you can switch places, and you can’t build stuff, and you aren’t fighting sentient animals … Okay, maybe it really isn’t like Savage afterall. Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger will allow players to get their RTFPSS (Real Time First Person Strategic Shooter, I just made that up) on when it releases for the PC and Xbox 360 sometime this fall. So this will be my last posting for quite a bit. Due to some personnel concerns, I need to be more cautious from revealing too much behind-the-scenes stuff at this stage. I have to admit, one of the main issues is that someone has been pretty proactive in trying to expose who is working on the project. The last thing I want is to get my guys in hot water, because a few still have full-time gigs. While unfortunate, it’s probably superior that we lay low for a while anyways. We are now in the deep mix of trying to build the game, so our hands are full. We’ll just shut up, and stay focused on bringing something playable to market first, which provides a much superior forum for discussion on the game. We’ve been having a good time with it so far, so I hope that it’s reflected in the game when it’s done. Via Destructoid Filed under: News, Xbox Live Marketplace You didn’t think all this talk of Rock Band 2 made us forget about the beloved original, did you? This week in Rock Band Weekly, Harmonix brings us a double-shot of Rush and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Rock Band tracks drop Tuesday, July 8, for 160MS Points ($2) a piece.
All releases this week are master tracks, a trend we like seeing continue with Rock Band. Rock Band enthusiasts will remember a cover-cut of “Working Man” was already made available in previous Rock Band DLC, but this substitute cut is all Rush. Jump in for the videos for all of Tuesday’s releases. Continue reading Rock Band Weekly: Red Hot Rush Edition Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments Via Xbox360fanboy Filed under: News

The full name of the game is actually Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger. No, seriously. That’s the title. Silly names aside, Raven Squad sounds interesting, as it incorporates both real time strategy and first person shooter gameplay. No, that doesn’t mean it’s an FPS with RTS elements or vice versa. Instead, players can actively switch between RTS and FPS modes. Throw in eight different squad members with “distinctive skills and weaponry” stuck behind enemy lines and it sounds like Raven Squad might be a decent game. The game is being developed by Atomic Motion with SouthPeak planning to distribute the title for Personal computer and Xbox 360 this fall. Check out the first screens in the gallery below. Yes, starting on July 7, Halo 3’s newest map Cold Storage will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace totally free. Not only that, but Microsoft will also be lowering the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 Microsoft Points to 600 Microsoft Points. The best part of all is that these prices will become the permanent prices of the content. In other words, Cold Storage and the Legendary Map Pack price drop aren’t part of the limited time, one day only Bungie Day goodies that will be on Marketplace. Joy! In celebration of Bungie Day and the release of Cold Storage, a special 48-hour free for all playlist is going up. Specific details are sparse, but Bungie’s Luke Smith promises that players will be able to control “Rockets, Invis and Snipe.” Mmmm … sounds nice and spammy. Finally, “one last thing” about Cold Storage is set to drop some time this day on Bungie.net. Keep your eyes glued to X3F for whatever that might be. The RSV2 “Gift Pack DLC” (no longer called the “Fan Pack”) includes a set of three re-releases of the multiplayer maps Calypso Casino, Murdertown and CQB Training but now re-lit for a “darker” gaming experience. Today’s free GHIII DLC is the July Fourth inspired “Top Gun Anthem” track of which we don’t believe Tom Cruise will make an appearance in or would even support. Meh. Go grab your free XBLM downloads, children, because … you know … they’re free! Source - Free RSV2 ‘Gift Pack’ DLC Permalink | Email this | Comments Via Xbox360fanboy |
