During the EA press conference, EA CEO John Ricatello introduced the newest partner to EA. Much like the agreement with Valve, which sees the publishing giant support the developer with retail releases and a worldwide reach, id Software was named as the newest member of the team.
Taking the stage, id Software co-founder John Carmack has revealed id Software has made a publishing agreement with EA. Expected to release under the EA logo is id’s first-person shooter, Rage. However, some questions remain? Will id Software rejoin the ESA now that they’ve an agreement with Electronic Arts? Considering the developer left after former publishing partner Activision did, we wonder if EA will ask them to re-apply. Also, will EA publish the upcoming Wolfenstein title? Time will tell.
Remember, as stated in the conference this news only means there’s a publishing agreement with EA. id Software was not purchased.
