After a much too long hiatus, we’re proud to say that it’s Halo action figure news time! Huzzah! And this day we’ve a treat for Halo action figure fanboys, because Mr. Toddy McFarlane just updated Spawn.com with all kinds of Halo goodness. First off, the Halo 3 Series 2 mini site is now live, allowing you to view each and every figure, view photos, download wallpapers and analyze every one in super sexy Quicktime VR.
But that isn’t all friends, because McFarlane just updated us on the Halo Points program. Halo Points, for the uninformed, are included with each and each Halo action figure purchase. Purchase enough figures, collect enough points and starting this Winter you can earn exclusive Halo swag. Want a Halo 3 lithograph? You’ll need 100 points. Looking at owning a red, blue or active camo Halo figure with Recon armor? Dish out anywhere from 200-300 points and you can haz Recon. There’s even a gold Master Chief for 500 points. It’s either time to begin making some action figure buys or time to take up the hobby of dumpster diving. Recon figures are way worth getting banana peel in your hair.
[Thanks, TMD]

Although we’d gotten used to three songs being added each week to Rock Band’s music store, Harmonix told us this week a little bit more could become the norm as the developer pushes to have 500 songs by the end of the year. This week, the band Trent Reznor built and Shinedown add some songs to the library.
Nin Pack (440 MS points / $5.49) — Also sold seperately (160 MS Points / $2)
- “Burn”
- “Capital G”
- “Last”
Individual Shinedown tracks (160 MS points / $2)
- “Devour”
- “Junkies For Fame”
Videos for the tracks can be found after the break. The consoles return to a regular DLC schedule next week (following this week’s Tuesday release of The Who pack), with songs being available next Tuesday and Thursday on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively.

Looking for easy answers to your Xbox 360 dashboard redesign questions? Here are a few points to take away from the new Xbox experience:
- “There’s nothing to announce” right now regarding a keyword search for the Marketplace. We hope for some kind of searching option or a superior layout for content
- Playing games from the hard drive will work fine for multi-disc games; in fact, you can pick which discs you want to rip (but a disc swap for the correct disc in the drive is required)
- As an example, Joystiq was told that Devil May Cry 4 is approximately a 4 or 5GB installation and takes about 10 minutes to copy onto a harddive: PS3 installation is roughly 18-25 mins
- You’ll need to keep the disc in the drive the entire time. This is about speeding up load times and to check if you own the title — the disc will not spin so no more jet noises
- Xbox 360 notifications look the same but are actually very cleaned up and look sharper — the sounds are all the same
- Yes, you can still use your gamertag photos and your themes (they look cleaner and more crisp now, an example of what it could look like is above) — example of a gamerpic in action is in the top right corner of the image above

Stuff your vote in the ballot box and decide on your favorite zoo animal, because it’s time to get political with a new Hail to the Chimp demo that just released to the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo, which is only available to U.S. and Canadian Live subscribers, features “presidential celebration game” style shenanigans and enough animal-based jokes to last you a few years. Download if you’re interested, ignore this post if you’re not … but we really didn’t have to tell you that did we?

E3 2008 has finally come to a close. You’ve read the hands-on reports and saw the trailers for your most anticipated games, but now it’s time for us to play the waiting game.
This year’s E3 was far from amazing, but you have to admit, there were some breathtaking games being shown off at the expo. Mirror’s Edge, Fallout 3, and Resident Evil 5 topped my “DO WANT” list — how about you? What games are you most excited about?
For the time being, we’ll just have to settle on playing games that have already been released. A sad thought indeed, but Friday Night Fights is here to ease the pain.
Hit the jump for tonight’s hosts.

We’ve already heard the complaints about Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe — how can DC super heroes like Superman go head-to-head with the likes of Sonya Blade or Sub-Zero? I mean, it’s Superman. Without kryptonite there’s no contest, right?
Well look: he’s apparently also vulnerable to magic, and with the number of mystic projectiles and resurrections found in the Mortal Kombat universe, they’re going to find a way to make it work. You didn’t hear anyone bitching when Capcom’s universe collided with Marvel, now did you? While they wouldn’t go into details, they’re promising that it will all make sense as told through the game’s narrative.
But regardless of how many random plot points they’ve to shoehorn into the game to make it work, all of it’s worthless without some solid gameplay. Because let’s face it — who’s playing Mortal Kombat for the story? I had a opportunity to get some first hands-on time with the game, and was pleasantly surprised at what I came away with.

Talk about a palette clenser after playing 30 or more minutes of Killzone 2. Sony are classiying thatgamecompany’s upcoming PlayStation Network title Flower in the “Zen Gaming” genre, which could also be applied to the developer’s last title, flOw.
It might seem like a silly marketing tag, but it’s surely appropriate — Flower is more of a decompressing and resting experience than it is an actual game. The goal of the title is to enter and restore beauty to dream worlds, acting as the wind to sweep up flowers and petals that cause different reactions in the environment.
By tilting the SIXAXIS left and right, I was able to control “the wind,” targeting blooming flowers in otherwise dead fields of grass. Sweeping over yellow flowers would cause red flowers to bloom, and I’d have to tilt the controller around to touch them in order to cause the grass to bloom and have that area come to life.
