Publisher promises $30 compensation if you don’t like their game’s betaPosted by: admin in PC Game News[ Not streaming? Upgrade your Flash version. Videos auto-playing? Fix it.] Watch more videos Here’s an interesting way to attract players to your game’s open beta. Publisher GamesCampus has introduced The Guaranteed Fun Promotion for their upcoming fantasy MMORPG Asda Story. This program says that if players trir the open beta that starts tomorrow and aren’t “satisfied with their Asda Story game experience,” that they can then request a $30 PayPal payment. “We are just asking you to invest your time in playing our game, and if after playing for 30 days you don’t feel it has been the great game experience we feel it to be, we want to hear your feedback and we’ll give you $30.00. It is as simple as that,” stated vice president of marketing and business development David Chang while nervously clutching his checkbook. It isn’t quite as easy as just downloading the client and playing it for five minutes, of course. Players will need to have reached level 40 by September 4, and then complete a survey about what they didn’t like between September 5 and September 7. There’s also a maximum of 1,500 players that can claim the cash, so GamesCampus will be out $45,000 at the most. Will this promotion entice you to give Asda Story a try, or are there just too many hoops to jump through to reach that sweet, sweet money? Via Destructoid

Microsoft graphic designer might have inadvertently announced Halo 3 for the ComPosted by: admin in PC Game News
It looks like someone on the Microsoft Web site design team either goofed up or has a strange sense of humor. The folks over at VE3D got a tip that an image displaying Halo 3 as a Personal computer game was showing up at the Microsoft Download Center. Curious, I went to confirm it for myself, and sure enough, there it was sitting next to a link for free trials of Microsoft Game Studios games. The graphic features Halo 3 sitting on top of Zoo Tycoon and Gears of War, both of which already have Personal computer versions. The page I went to after clicking the link had a list of Games for Windows that was lacking in a Halo 3 listing, though. Only Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 were present. That could mean that this was all just a mistake, but seeing as how the previous two games in the series have gotten the PC treatment I’ve a pretty strong suspicion that Halo 3 won’t be 360 exclusive forever and someone just jumped the gun before Microsoft announced it. Is the Halo series something that you prefer playing on the Computer? I had a friend who used to love the Halo: Combat Evolved port, but he kind of lost interest after the “lackluster” Halo 2 release. Via Destructoid

Yesterday, MTVMultiplayer spoke to World of Warcraft designer Jeff Kaplan about accomplishments in WoW. What was then revealed was Blizzard’s cross-title system called “Blizzard Account” which will track Achievements across all Blizzard games including Starcraft II and Diablo III. Blizzard Account isn’t necessarily ready yet, but the WoW team will use the Wrath of the Lich King expansion to test it out. There’s more, though. Every Achievement earned will go towards a players “Blizzard Level,” which is essentially a scalable version of Xbox Live’s Gamerscore. The more points, the more levels and the more bragging rights to your buddies. Here’s what Kaplan had to say about the system:
For some reason, I really need Accomplishments to validate my gaming experience anymore. I’ve no idea why these point systems have my psyche in an iron grip, but they do. Thank the gods that the PlayStation 3 finally got Trophies, or else I would feel soulless while playing PixelJunk Eden. Are any of you excited about the notion of Blizzard’s cross-game Achievement system? Or are you too cool for points? Via Destructoid
Gamecock and Spark Unlimited’s Legendary will be dropping into stores September 30th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. I’ve played Legendary a few times already and I’ll definitely be picking this up next month. There will be some special treats for people that pre-order the game, which will include a colored book of the character and creature designs as well as a DVD full of extras.
