Free, non-indie games are almost always garbage, or else there’s some kind of catch involved, like you getting sued for pirating the damn things. That’s why it’s so surprising to me that a game of Battlefield Heroes‘ caliber is absolutely free-to-play.
We’ve got a handful of new screenshots for you to ogle over, as well as a trailer featuring a half-naked man and other semi-related shenanigans.
It’s not every day you get to give your character a peg leg, so I for one will be doing exactly that when Battlefield Heroes drops later this year. Anyone else is planning on making their character as zany as possible?

Just days after Game Informer revealed their cover story exclusive for Eidos’ Batman: Arkham Asylum, here we’ve our first screens, and the words “totally badass” come to mind.
The images confirm the game’s “dark” and “gritty” feel, with an angry looking and ripped Batman pounding filthy thugs’ faces in with his dirty bat-gloves. The game is stated to feature a number of Batman’s most notorious villains, and we have the ability to see at least two of them in these screens — The Joker and an interesting choice, the less-popular — but completely terrifying — Killer Croc. The dude was born with a rare condition that made him look like a crocodile for Pete’s sake.
The Rocksteady Studios developed Batman: Arkham Asylum is a wholly original game set in the DC universe that sees a routine prison transfer going south, forcing Batman to come in and clean up the mess. The title will mix action with puzzle-solving/detective work, and is being developed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Computer.

Despite beliefs to the contrary, it has been announced that Capcom’s Bionic Commando: Rearmed will not be distributed to PC gamers via Steam. It was pretty much a given that Valve’s service would carry the action game remake, but some late complications have seen the deal go sour.
“At the last minute, we’ve been unable to reach mutually agreeable terms with Valve on BCR, so they won’t be carrying it,” explained Capcom’s corporate officer Christian Svensson. “I won’t get into the details but we do continue to have a good relationship with Valve and future Capcom titles we expect to be carried on Steam.”
No details on whatever disagreements were had, but Personal computer users can still pick Rearmed up from Direct2Drive or GamersGate for $14.99. Now everybody sit back and think what life would be like if we’d written “Bionic Commando runs out of Steam” for a headline.

“I have such a boner for stupid action games,” Destructoid’s Jim Sterling told me earlier. “X-Blades will fuse that with a real boner, thanks to half-naked chicks.”
That may sum it up what many of you’re thinking when you see Gaijin Entertainment’s X-Blades, which publisher SouthPeak Interactive has just revealed will be coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Computer. The game features the “stunning seductive yet tenacious” Ayumi who travels the world hunting for artifacts … like clothing. Because really, she’s not wearing much. Did we mention that yet?
Be sure to check out our hands-on with X-Blades, and be sure to check out these three new screens which we have to point out present endless cosplay opportunities.
