The SEC is all up in Apple’s business again, this time over suspicions that some illegal trading may have gone down using insider information in regards to threee “three particular Apple-related developments.” HuffPo’s Dan Dorfman points at someone getting an “illegal lead” on iPod sales, true knowledge of Steve Jobs‘ health, and when Apple was gonna release info about those two things. Hmm. [HuffPo]

Well, it’s no GameGun, but we hear this “PlayStation motion controller” thing from Sony is going to be “kind of a big deal.” The SCEA R&D team was kind enough to put together some behind the scenes footage detailing a bit of the genesis of the controller and some of its technical prowess, and according to Sony this should be just enough of a calculated tease to get us excited for TGS in late September. We feel so manipulated. Video is after the break.

There might be something wrong with the inside of my brain, but I’m actually excited for Sony’s creepy-yet-cute EyePet. If you’re yet to hear about it, it’s a furry little monstrosity that uses the trendy “augmented reality” fad to interact with players via the gift of the PlayStation Eye. People who are just as maladjusted as me will be thrilled to learn that the EyePet has an official release date, and will be terrorizing children and the elderly on November 17.
The EyePet software will set you back $39.99, and that’s …

We saw the poster and possible lenses for Canon’s EOS 7D yesterday, and now it looks like the floodgates are open. A photography forum has most of the details you’ll need, except the exact price and release date.
It’ll have a 18MP sensor, dual DIGIC 4 processors, ISO from 100 to 6400 (and some crazy 12800 mode), a 3-inch LCD in addition to the 100% coverage viewfinder and of course HD video capabilities like its siblings. It looks like it’ll compete most directly with the king of prosumer DSLRs, the Nikon …

A wave of nostalgia washes over us when we hear music from our favorite classic franchises. One of those iconic pieces is Castlevania’s “Vampire Killer” series theme. The folks at Tiny Cartridge (specifically, Joystiq’s own JC Fletcher) stumbled upon a YouTube clip featuring every version the classic track has spawned since the origin of the Castlevania franchise.
While musical style and technology has evolved, this video showcases how Kinuyo Yamashita’s original piece has lived on throughout nearly two dozen Castlevania games (as well as some non-Castlevania titles). Feel like taking a …

One of the greatest travesties mankind has ever committed on itself is having let adventure gaming’s prime run its course without a LucasArts Star Wars adventure game using the SCUMM engine being created. It just doesn’t make sense that the company who created Star Wars and also dominated the adventure gaming scene didn’t make an adventure game based on Star Wars. Thankfully, we have the fans, and they will achieve where LucasArts failed.
Stacy Davidson is one such fan and she’s bringing the world Han Solo Adventures, a classic-style adventure game …

Sony’s PlayStation 3 already only does everything, so what more could you possibly need? Australians can find out for themselves with the Ultimate Blu-ray Movie Kit. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s really just the PS3 remote and two discs, but at $60 AUD (that’s $51 for US), it’s only one Banjo Paterson / $10 AUD more than what the remote retails on its lonesome. Both bundles include 300 as the first film, so you’re really choosing between 10,000 B.C. and Batman Begins. Not exactly a tough decision unless …

Hey, you remember those really annoying Risky Business commercials that Activision was overusing for Guitar Hero World Tour? Well, they’re back for Guitar Hero 5! This time, they feature not one, not two, not three, but ten Playboy Playmates as well as the king himself, Hugh Hefner.
Man, what the hell are these girls doing? They’re not even looking at a TV while playing. The two girls at the end aren’t even hitting the strum button! Watch for yourself after the break.
On a related note, I wonder …
