Left 4 Dead 2 demo code diggers did indeed unearth the names of two bits of DLC for Valve’s upcoming ZFPS. Just don’t get too excited by the news — they were fake names, created as a bit of test code in order for the demo to clear Microsoft certification stuff.
This information comes via Valve’s Chet Faliszek, who spoke about the DLC during a Eurogamer-sponsored event this afternoon.
“If you’re reading in the forums and you’re reading about the ‘Miracle’ DLC or whatever, that’s test code,” he said, according to …

Think of this week’s round of announcements as Android’s débutante ball. She’s gone from a lovable ragamuffin to a mature OS that’s ready for the spotlight. With Android 2.0, Motorola Droid and Google Maps Navigation, she stole our hearts.
Google Maps Navigation • Google Navigator for Android Review: Good For Free But Far From Perfect • Google Maps Navigation: A Free, Ass-Kicking, Turn-by-Turn Mobile App
(An)Droid: • Motorola Droid First Hands On: It’s a Terminator • A Visual Guide to Android 2.0: So Much Nicer • No Android Version of HTC HD2 …

Namco Bandai sent out a press release today boasting that it has shipped over 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6 worldwide. Now, we don’t want to tell Namco how to do its job, but these shipment numbers tend to be more impressive when you give the game a week or so in stores, so we can more readily infer a connection between shipped copies and sold copies.
The portion of those 2.5 million earmarked for Europe, for example, just got there today, and it’s only been in stores for around …

For the New York Yankees’ sake, I sure hope Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels continues his sub-par playoff performance tomorrow night in Game 3 of the World Series. But as much as I want to see him crash and burn against the Yankees, I have to hand it to him — this public service announcement imploring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players to avoid throwing grenades randomly is pretty damn funny (its NSFW language contributes to that).
At this point, I’ve just about hit “information overload” on Modern …

Two items of note for future owners of the DSi XL (aka, The Gigantic DSi) Nintendo has slated for a November launch in Japan (and Q1 2010 here in the US). First, if you’ve been wondering just how much bigger this thing is in comparison to the previous version of the handheld, wonder no more. The device has been spied in action on Japanese television, and it really is quite enormous. How big? Well luckily the folks at Joystiq have put together an awesome little FAQ about the handheld (including …

Champions Online now has over one million characters fighting and bashing baddies across its digital world.
Earlier this afternoon, Cryptic Studios and publisher Atari announced that the MMO now has more than one million created characters, making it the first game named Champions Online to reach the one million created characters mark.
While we have no way of confirming this, it appears that only one of those million characters are named Brad Nicholson, despite the writer’s best attempt at getting people to mold a character in his likeness in the game. …

If there’s one Apple product that lives outside the Reality Distortion Field, it’s Apple TV. But hey wait, 3.0 is out, doesn’t that change everything? Well, considering Apple rolled it out on a Thursday afternoon with no fanfare, whattaya think?

1. New Home Screen and Tweaked UI
The old home screen had a grid of categories, including Movies, TV, Music, Settings, etc. Now the home screen is horizontal, with all of those same categories running across. Besides mere orientation, the major difference is subtle: Apple TV anticipates what files you’re going to …

During the hands-on preview night of BioShock 2, we learned a lot of new details about the game. Probably one of the bigger revelations about the BioShock 2 that was shown was the fact that there are multiple Big Sisters now. She isn’t the central bad guy anymore, but she still is going to a tough character to fight.
I got a chance to talk to Lead Level Designer JP Lebreton and Senior Designer Ken Hudson on BioShock 2 and found out exactly why the Big Sister’s role in the game …

What are you going out as this Halloween? If it’s geeky, we want to see it. There just might be a free pizza in it for you.
All you need to do is drop a photo in the comments of you actually wearing the costume. And let me just say, if it’s Star Wars, it had dammed well better be unique somehow (like the Lego Star Wars costumes pictured above). And no, we don’t need to see a pic of you as a kid in the ’80′s dressed like your favorite …

If you’re looking for a UMD version of Half-Minute Hero in Quebec, stop trying. A Destructoid reader looking for the game was surprised it had skipped a release altogether in the Canadian province — and it’s all thanks to the law. “Canadian distribution is always tricky because of the bilingual law that Quebec enforces, so for titles with limited distribution we do not create a second bilingual version specifically for Canada because it’s too expensive. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to Half-Minute Hero,” an XSEED representative stated.
Thankfully, digital distribution offers a …
