When BioShock launched in 2007, it felt like a breath of fresh air to many gamers. A brand-new IP with a fantastic story and an interesting sandbox-style approach to combat within a linear format, it was a damn fine game. Superb, even. So good, in fact, that many considered a sequel completely unnecessary.
Whether or not BioShock 2 is required isn’t for us to decide. We’re here to tell you whether or not BioShock 2 is good. With some huge shoes to fill, 2K Marin certainly had its work cut out …

I try and be an open minded person. I work hard at improving my world view, I attempt to put aside all prejudice, and I always aim to accept different points of view. However, I have learned that my opinion of myself is an illusion. I am not open minded. My world view is terrible, my prejudice defines me and alternative points of view disgust me.
At least, that’s how so-called “art games” make me feel.
Perhaps I’m just too old fashioned, but after repeated attempts to “get” the vast majority of …

Sales for Sony’s Playstation 3 have been steadily increasing since the company found a way to remove their head from their ass by lowering the price point and coming up with an advertising campaign that makes sense. According to the math wizards over at Shacknews, after the 6.5 million Q3 sales of the console that were recently announced, the grand total of PS3s sold is 33.71 million.
Look out Wii, here comes the PS3! Nah, I’m just kidding.
33.71 million is only half of the Wii’s current worldwide sales, but Sony does …

Hey, now, this is some great news, right? The trouble-plagued Large Hadron Collider looks to be doing a bang up job in some of its primary tasks. After breaking the energy record previously held by the Tevatron particle accelerator back at the end of November, 2009, reports are now coming in that the LHC is, in fact, producing some extremely high energy collisions. A research team led by MIT, CERN and the KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics in Budapest, Hungary have released a report detailing findings that …

Motorola claims they’re coming out with a couple dozen Android phones in 2010, and with a crop so big a few of them are bound to be pretty weird. This render suggests that the MOTOSPLIT might be one of those.
Like the Samsung Alias 2 before it, the MOTOSPLIT shown here sports a keyboard that has tiny touch screens for keys, though this one has the unique ability to slide out in landscape or portrait orientation. Depending on the way its being held, or maybe the application its running, the mini …

Someone may judge you for putting together a mock iPad, but it’s certainly not going to be us. Be it for practicing the Tablet Sutra or faking out a fanboy friend, here’s the template you’ve been looking for:
Courtesy of Jess Silverstone at Revolutionary Concepts, this template can be printed on standard paper and will fold into an iPad that’s just about the same size as the real thing, as long as your printer is capable of borderless printing. Here’s the front and the back, and this is what your arts …

Subscribing to a magazine comes with its own perks. For one, you pay less per issue than store-buyers. For two, you get your copies a little earlier than most. Perk number two applies in this case, as it seems PC Gamer subscribers received a huge six-page preview of Fallout: New Vegas in next month’s issue.
Thankfully, an unstated perk number three exists, in that the internet inevitably spoils all huge early previews. A thread found on Bethesda’s forums (and synopsized by fansite Duck and Cover) did exactly that, spilling the following …

Way back in 2007, 2K’s Elizabeth Tobey stated that multiplayer in BioShock would compromise the story. We never forgot that statement, so it was strange to see BioShock 2 proudly pimping multiplayer as one of its core components. Naturally, we were all “WTF,” so we asked 2K Marin creative director, Jordan Thomas, why multiplayer doesn’t compromise the single-player game anymore.
“Our first decision with Multiplayer was to recruit Digital Extremes to own the experience completely, precisely so that neither component would suffer a lack of creative focus,” explains Thomas. “I think …

The arrival of the Aliens vs. Predator demo this week did not bring much conversation concerning the game’s quality. Unfortunately, rather than talk about the game itself, most people were talking about what a load of crap the demo was. Terrible matchmaking was the order of the day, with people taking at least ten minutes to get into a game.
Rebellion, thank f*ck, has apologized, but not without squeezing in a few words about how brilliant AvP is.
“Unprecedented demand for Aliens vs. Predator following the release of the cross-platform demo yesterday …
