We’re not quite at the height of Apple frenzy, but looking at the bell curve, we’re only a standard deviation or two from its zenith (we imagine the fever pitch will be in tandem with Saturday’s iPad launch, if history and human nature tells us anything). Of course, that doesn’t stop the rumor mill from amping up production, and so on with the show! First on the docket, remember last month’s discovery of multitasking comments in the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta? Well, Apple Insider’s apparently got it on word from …

The Ramos W7 Android-powered MID has come to pass, but for the last year one question’s remained: where is that RK2808-based handset we were promised? Finally Rockchip has provided us with some pictures of its prototype called, of all things, Smart Phone. There is a dearth of specs at the present time, but from what we do know it will have a predictable emphasis on multimedia playback (including H.264, RMVB, MPEG-4, AVS, WMV9, and 720p video). If you’re a manufacturer (or would like to be), drop ‘em a line — …

It may not be of much use to anyone with a recent iMac or MacBook, but folks with a Mac that doesn’t have a built-in ambient light sensor will soon be able to get their fix courtesy of Nuovation’s new Iris + Reflex combo. That includes the Iris USB light sensor, which is small enough to not obstruct any nearby ports, and works in conjunction with the company’s Reflex software to dial down your display’s brightness to suit your surroundings. In fact, it even bests Apple’s standard offering when it …

Just like the all-grappling hero of the Just Cause franchise, developer Avalanche Studios is exercising an unusual amount of freedom. Like the freedom to start talking about Just Cause 3 one week after the release of Just Cause 2. Studio head Christofer Sundberg told Develop that we “shouldn’t be surprised” to hear another sequel announced. “We are absolutely interested in working with the Just Cause IP again,” Sundberg said.
Sundberg is confident that Avalanche would be behind the continued development of the franchise, as well. “The studio lives and breathes the …

New The Incredibles costumes and a level pack are headed to LittleBigPlanet in April, Media Molecule has revealed.
The pack will come with nine costumes, including each one of the Incredibles, allies Frozone and Edna Mode, and baddie Syndrome. The level pack will hit the PlayStation Store at the same time as the costumes, and will feature “memory landmarks from The Incredibles, and masses of other collectables.”
Sometimes I think Media Molecule just puts together these LittleBigPlanet costume and level packs because they can. I mean, The Incredibles? Really? That movie came …

MEDL Technology’s portable LCD display “The Panel” sounded like the perfect laptop sidekick, but would you really want to slip the 13.3-inch screen into your messenger bag? We invited company co-founder Eric Liao — and his prototype Panel — to a local Starbucks to find out. The verdict? Lightweight and incredibly easy to use, but at this point most features (including those all-important analog video inputs) aren’t quite ready for primetime. Housed in a silvery frame that perfectly matched the brushed aluminum finish of our Mac and Dell laptops, the …

For all of those wringing their hands like some sort of maniacal fiend in anticipation for Left 4 Dead 2‘s DLC, “The Passing,” you’re going to have to wring a little longer than you had hoped. A recent video for U.K. Xbox Live subscribers (above) laid out the sad truth: you will not be seeing “The Passing” by March 31 as you originally hoped.
Instead the show goes with the ever depressing move of using a season as a release window by saying “The Passing” will be released in spring. On …

As if we needed any further proof that Japan regards Western gamers as bloodthirsty gorehounds, Omega Force producer Hisashi Koinuma has stated that his team is likely planning a more brutal version of Fist of the North Star for the roundeye fans. The game is already out in Japan, and seems to be selling quite well.
“There won’t be any gameplay changes,” says Koinuma. “However, for overseas fans, we’ll probably adjust the expressions of violence so that it’s more extreme.”
Omega Force is also planning DLC for the game, having just released an …
