In the last debate, we had one of the closest voting races I’ve ever seen. Persona 4 would take the lead by two or three votes, and then Persona 3 would strike back with a few votes of its own to tie it up. This continued about ten times until one game’s pool of fans eventually dried up. It was exciting to see them compete, and both games should be proud of their performance. Here are the results:
Persona 4 — (54 votes) — Winner!
Persona 3 / Persona 3 FES — (41 …

Start looking for a really nice cardboard box! And then ship yourself to Japan in it. Konami is holding a Metal Gear Solid cosplay contest next month, with the winner to be determined at the Tokyo Game Show.
Interested Johnny Sasaki lookalikes (and other Metal Gear cosplayers) can submit pictures here (warning: Japanese-language application!) Konami will select a few of the entries to appear at the publisher’s TGS booth on September 18. There, they will be evaluated by a panel of guest judges to be announced later — as well as …

You didn’t expect us to let something as delicious as Sony’s all-new Translucent Mirror Technology slide by without us playing with it, did you? The freshly announced and priced A55 and A33 Alpha DSLRs slipped out in Taipei this morning, where our crack Engadget Chinese reporters were at the ready with their own picture-taking equipment. Early feedback describes the electronic viewfinder on these shooters as beautiful and very bright, though some rainbow-effect artifacting starts to become apparent if you shift your viewpoint. The bodies of the two new shooters appeared …

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue — a full sequel, not an expansion — hits PlayStation Network on September 21 and Xbox LIVE Arcade on the 22nd for $14.99. Now, I know what you’re thinking; I’m thinking the exact same thing: too soon?
As long as the game is good, I don’t have a problem. Some people dug DeathSpank, so why not let them have more of what they enjoy? Expect “loads of new creatures, environments, weapons and characters,” says Hothead Games director of game development Vlad Ceraldi. Also, humor!
For those who weren’t …

The first of many details surrounding StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm have come out, courtesy of MTV Multiplayer. While Wings of Liberty is still eating up much of our free time, it’s never too early to ask — especially when it comes to the design philosophy of Blizzard — what’s ahead of us.
Executive VP of game design Rob Pardo has the answers. “It’s hard to imagine doing a Zerg-based campaign the same way [as the Terran story] or, for that matter, doing a Protoss one.”
“We really want to make …

Sure, the Samsung Vibrant’s a T-Mobile device and the Samsung Captivate belongs to AT&T, but there’s no longer any reason you can’t swap them around — all you need is a simple script and a USB cable to completely unlock your phone. Dagentooboy of XDA-Developers discovered that Galaxy S unlock codes aren’t kept in a secure remote server, but merely stored in a .BAK file on the device itself, which you find with a hex editor and key right in when inserting a new SIM card of your choice. We …

Have you been diligently buying and registering your games via Square Enix Members? The 2009 prizes finally shipped, and we snapped some pics of the Ultimate level gifts. Included in the box is a Square Enix branded iPod Touch, and a medal-enclosed box that includes a soundtrack CD, postcards and a desktop calendar. This is some of the highest-quality swag we’ve seen given to fans. It certainly makes Club Nintendo pale in comparison. Check it all out in our gallery below.

I think it is safe to say that Crytek is a crazy-insane developer. Every time they release a new game it becomes the benchmark to test your PC, even three years after its release it is hard to find middle of the road hardware that can run Crysis maxed out. Crysis 2 on the other hand is going to be released on consoles and PC. This makes it possible for many gamers out there (including myself) to play a Crytek game the way it is meant to be played.
