In developing Red Steel 2, Ubisoft Creative Director Jason VanderBerge learned quite a bit about Nintendo’s optional Wii MotionPlus accessory (and how people use it). So he seemed like a good person to ask about the potential of Sony and Microsoft’s impending motion control accessories, the Move and Kinect. When we did just that, catching up with VanderBerge after his talk at GDC Europe this week, he was a bit ambivalent about the subject.

We’ll be honest: we thought SSDs would suck down most of platter-based storage’s milkshake by now — that magnetic disks would follow tapes into obscurity. Alas, SSDs are still niche items, and Toshiba is doing all it can to keep them that way, demonstrating a successful prototype of a new storage technique called bit-pattern recording that currently generates a storage density of 2.5Tb per square inch. That’s about five times more dense than the company’s current offerings, achieved by placing individual bits onto lithographed “islands” of magnetic material. This protects …

Say what you will about wanting your videogame press-type folks to be objective, I don’t think now is the time for me to even feign objectivity — I want Epic’s and People Can Fly’s Bulletstorm, and I want it now. I want it streamed into my system intravenously. I have three cats and I’m going to rename them all “Bulletstorm” starting now. You get where I’m going with this.
I knew that we were going to have a “thing” going after I played it at E3 earlier this year. The …

You know the old ‘smoke and fire’ adage by now, and while the alarms aren’t sounding just yet, we get the feeling that they will be shortly. We’ve heard Samsung itself confirm that an Android-based tablet would be departing its labs sometime this year, and since then, we’ve also heard an IFA debut tossed around. Given that said show is but a few weeks out, it’s halfway logical to think that Sammy would be notifying some of its launch partners of its intentions. We can’t be certain that things are …
