Notorious PS3 hacker George “Geohot” Hotz is apparently the next Will Smith, as he shows off his rap skills and puts Sony in its place.
Responding to the legal proceedings that Sony is leveling against him, Hotz (who looks a bit like Quentin Tarantino) refers to the company as a group of fudgepackers and invites them to pound him in the ass. He also refers to himself as the personification of freedom for all and dares Sony to exhibit his musical skills in the courtroom.
This biggest surprise is that this isn’t …

During this past week, the DICE Summit rolled into Las Vegas, a small part of Duke Nukem Forever was demoed to press in a strip bar, and Big Download gave out some beta keys for Darkspore (that were quickly claimed by our readers). In other words, it was a fairly typical past seven days.

We had a feeling we’d be hearing about Intel’s Atom for smartphones here at Mobile World Congress, and Intel did in fact take the stage today to talk about its forthcoming Medfield processor. The company has announced that it is starting to sample or test its 32nm Medfield processor for mobile devices with its customers (obviously, it’s not telling us with ones) and more importantly that it will ship in a phone. Yep, Intel’s Senior Vice President Anand Chandrasekher spoke quite firmly about how the platform will in fact ship …

Crysis 2 is released on March 22, but if you’ve got a little time and even less scruples, you can play it right now. With almost depressing inevitability, an entire developer build of the game has been leaked online, allowing PC gamers early, free access to Crytek’s latest eye-shagger.
And this is why developers don’t give a sh*t about PC gamers anymore, folks.
It’s become increasingly hard to sit back and say that videogame piracy isn’t as bad as people say when stuff like this happens. This past week, I suggested that …

Pete Eckert is a photographer. He’s also blind after suffering from Retinitis Pigmentosa. The video above shows his amazing photography process—from composing, snapping to processing in the dark room. Eckert is doing something he loves, even if most of us would foolishly assume he couldn’t. Check out Pete Eckert’s website here. [Pete Eckert via Neatorama] More »

On Thursday night, I went to NIS America’s annual press event/buffet. They weren’t showing off a whole lot of new material, but one of the flashy things we saw was this trailer for Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel. I realize JRPGs are generally pretty weird, but this video reminds me of watching recorded Kids’ WB episodes of Cardcaptors on a broken VCR and doing shots of six-dollar tequila while my roommate keeps blasting Björk techno remixes and arguing with his girlfriend.
I mean, you know. Not that I’ve ever done that.
Ar Tonelico Qoga: …

It’s not exactly full disclosure — you won’t get to see a user’s manual, for instance, or those gritty FCC lab external photos that we always love — but a new device passed by Palm through the feds’ systems in the past 24 hours is pretty clearly the Veer judging by the mentions of a sliding mechanism, the lack of CDMA, and the fact that we know the Veer is the next webOS phone to hit the market. Now, here’s where it gets a little interesting: this filing was definitely …

This week kicks off with Double Fine’s Stacking, but then it is onto news. If you have been left wanting for news over the past few weeks, rest assured, you will be more than satisfied this week. After an exhausting amount of news, Chris and Ludwig still muster the energy for a Dead Space 2 Spoiled Rotten.
Thanks to Alan Black for this photoshop of the boys stiffly strutting their stuff.

Following a strong initial release, Paradox Interactive has given an update on Magicka‘s sales to Big Download: 200,000 copies sold in its first 17 days. Remarkable for a small-scale launch, even if the game was budget priced. Word travels quickly, I suppose.
Paradox producer Mattias Lilja says the team at Arrowhead Studios is “close” in terms of fixing technical issues, “but not there yet. The basic tech design of Magicka sets some limits to what we can realistically do, but there’s still stuff we can and definitely will improve upon.”
As …
