“I can only speak on behalf of Infinity Ward, but I think it’s a natural progression of how things have been going in general,” Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling explained. We spoke last week during a Modern Warfare 3 preview event in Manhattan, in a hotel about 60 blocks north of the Wall Street setting in the game’s campaign. I’d asked Bowling about the upcoming Call of Duty XP extravaganza, the variety of devs working on Modern Warfare 3, and if those things are an indication of a more …

After some will they / won’t they drama, Nintendo snuck out its new Video app for the 3DS, giving owners of the handheld a little something to enjoy in 3D between gaming sessions. That said, we hope your Netflix queue is full because there are apparently only four selections available at any given time. At launch, those slots are filled with an intro video, two short films (Sunday Jog and Dinosaur Office) and a Captain America movie trailer. Users should expect a continuously updated carousel of content going forward, but …

Q-Games’ Casual Connect teaser was indeed related to PixelJunk Monsters as many of you had guessed. For the first time, the fantastic series will be available outside of PlayStation Network.
This free-to-play, browser-based version retains the same PixelJunk Monsters name, and it’s clearly familiar aesthetically as well. The expanded world map is new, as is the social integration found there.
In terms of a release date, “later this year” is all we have to go on. I wonder if the existence of this game means we won’t get a PixelJunk Monsters 2?

Terahertz lasers sure are awesome but, there’s one big problem, we have no reliable way of measuring their power — a pretty important piece of data to have before you start bombarding people with their flesh penetrating rays. A new coating for laser calibration tools called VANTA seems like a viable candidate for sucking up those longer than visible wavelengths. Constructed of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes, up to 1.5mm in length, cakes of VANTA are not only more absorbent than other materials used for measuring a laser’s power (which makes …

Buckets of blood will be shed in the newest expansion to Dragon Age II. This little gem of a franchise was started in late 2009 and with Dragon Age: Origins, Bioware had a hit. With that release, they also brought about an abundant amount of downloadable content to expand the gameplay.

According to numbers procured by our friends at Joystiq, it looks like psychedelic onrails rhythm-action shooter Child of Eden (coming soon to the PS3) only sold 34,000 units in its first month of release in the United States. Considering the game has been hyped for two E3′s in a row as one of Kinect’s few killer apps, I think it’s safe to say that those numbers are disappointing.
Worse still are the reported sales of my favorite game of June 2011, and one of my favorite games of the year, the …
