I learn something new every day. While playing the Go Home Dinosaurs PAX demo, I learned that even the most herbivorous of dinosaurs can’t resist a nice, juicy steak. Also, little prehistorical mole creatures are the controllers and distributors of said steak, and they don’t take too kindly to dinos attempting to crash their BBQ. Fortunately for them, dinosaurs aren’t smart enough to stray from a straight path to get to those delicious smelling things.
Yeah, Go Home Dinosaurs is a tower defense game where moles are trying to defend their …

Those Smart Meters may not have went over so well in San Francisco, and Google may have shuttered PowerMeter just a few months ago… but that doesn’t mean that Ma Earth is doomed to live a life a few centigrade higher than she should, right? EnergyHub has just announced that its snazzily designed energy monitoring system is now on sale for eco-minded folk in the USA, with $399 netting you a home base, a socket, a strip and a wireless thermostat (simpler bundles start at $299). According to the company, …

After nearly a whole year since the DS release of Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi (Second Country: The Jet-Black Mage), the PS3 counterpart’s release date has finally been announced. Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou (Second Country: The Queen of White Sacred Ash) will come out on November 17, along with a special white-and-gold Magical Edition PS3 bundle as well. The game is not a port of the DS version, developed separately with different story developments, graphics, and artwork, which will now better showcase the world-renowned Ghibli animation …

You probably didn’t notice Jonathan Skabla’s name amid the slew of credits at the end of Portal: No Escape, the recently released short by Dan Trachtenberg of The Totally Rad Show. He might be a faceless animator to you, but to me he’s my best pal. He’s the guy who’d greet me on Tuesday afternoon with a beer and a copy of Streets of Rage 2. Jon has moved on and up since our days of sharing a squalid apartment. He was part of a team under Jon Chesson (an animator responsible …

If you remember the Samsung Admire at MetroPCS, then the manufacturer’s Vitality handset will look mighty familiar. It’s coming to Cricket and will join the Suede (a feature phone) as the network’s only smartphone with Muve Music. Like the Admire, it features an 800MHz CPU, 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, a 3.2MP camera and runs stock Gingerbread. While its price and release date remain elusive, we’re told the requisite plan will ring in at $65 per month — a spendy leap for the network that goes chirp in the night. Perhaps that’s …

When word first broke that Comedy Central was producing a game based on Ugly Americans, their animated series about a New York City filled with co-habitating humans, demons and other creatures, I had a hard time coming to grips with it. Sure, the show is funny but I couldn’t see how it could translate into a gaming experience (short of an adventure title which, admittedly, has a fair bit of potential in the setting).
Of course, I am a fool. Just about anything can be turned into a dual-stick shooter or …

This is the obligatory sentence in which I ramble on about how Hawken is remarkably pretty for an independent PC game. Seriously, have you seen this mech combat title in motion? It almost seems too good to be true, but talent combined with the ever-improving Unreal Engine means these visual feats are achievable.
Adhesive Games says this story teaser trailer should help remind us that Hawken hasn’t been abandoned. (Making videogames isn’t easy — who knew?) For the most part, the team is “remaining quiet and focused until we have …
