GameStop’s digital distribution service, Impulse, now offers a few of Valve’s hits for download. This is the first time Valve’s games have been made available on a digital service outside of Steam.
Gamasutra says that Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, Half-Life and The Orange Box are now available via Impulse. You’ll still need to register the games through Valve’s Steam client, though. Hell, you might as well just buy them on Steam.
Think of the games being on Impulse as a wierd sort of link to Steam, bringing GameStop’s customers and their …

2007′s The Darkness was a fun, albeit flawed first-person shooter. The Starbreeze-developed title followed the exploits of Mafioso hitman Jackie Estacado on his 21st birthday as a hidden demonic power awakens inside him and he becomes a relentless killing machine.
The game stayed fairly close to its comic roots and offered unique gameplay options such as the controllable demon arms and Jackie’s ability to summon darklings to do his bidding. Now, Digital Extremes picks up the license and the groundwork that Starbreeze laid out, and it appears they have improved upon …

When it comes to Super Bowl soothsaying, EA Sports’ Madden NFL games almost have it down to a science. The sports sim has correctly predicted the winner of six of the last eight Super Bowls; the first time it was wrong was back in 2008, when the New York Giants shocked the New England Patriots, 17-14, preventing them from achieving a perfect 19-0 season.
It won’t be as much of a surprise if the Giants pull off another nail-biting upset this year — the Patriots are only favored by 3 points …

The new SSX looks pretty damn fantastic, of that there is no denying. Still, Electronic Arts once again doesn’t think it’s good enough to sell new copies on its own merit, and hopes to force your hand with its favorite skeezy business tactic — the online pass.
Although not officially announced, videos of the game in action (such as the lengthy footage on Giant Bomb) reveals the pass feature sitting comfortably at the bottom of SSX‘s main menu. So, used gamers will need to pay the piper, and new customers will …

Voldo’s lower horn may not have been a legit SoulCalibur V print ad, but this one is. Surprise, surprise. It’s the perfect complement to the original boobalicious ad. These things always happen in pairs.
I’m glad Namco Bandai has acknowledged the peculiarities of “ass men” such as our own Jonathan Holmes. It’s not always about breasts, you see.
Also, now I have an excuse to post this 100% tasteful song.

The iPhone might not officially be on the magenta network, but T-Mobile isn’t about to turn its back on a million paying customers, either. According to a document obtained by TmoNews, the network plans to offer new “common procedures, information about feature and specifications and other basic device questions” to iPhone users starting Monday. T-Mobile has long had an open-door policy for customers with unlocked iPhones, since it doesn’t have its own to sell — though T-Mo CTO Neville Ray is hoping really hard that will change. Someday.

It may not seem like that long ago, but way back in July of last year a little zombie-survival game by the name of Dead Block came out on XBLA and PSN. Now, about half a year later, the Call of Duty Zombie mode-esque downloadable title has found a new home on PC.
Dead Block can’t be found on Steam, but is instead exclusively available to purchase on other online retailers such as Amazon and GameStop for only $9.99. Our very own Maurice Tan didn’t have too many positive things to …

While most of us play games purely for their entertainment value, an elite few get their game on while calling themselves “professionals.” These superstars of simulated battle make the rounds in various tournaments, including, most notably, Major League Gaming Pro Circuit championships. Now those digital athletes, as well as the masses of seasoned “amateurs,” can compete with professional (or at least officially licensed) equipment — we’re talking about gear like Mad Catz’ Major League Gaming Pro Circuit Controller for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This Major League gamepad …
