I’m not one to boast, mainly because I’m terrible at it, but on occasion I have been known to state my belief that in a zombie apocalypse I’d probably do alright. I have no idea why I think that years of sitting on my arse, reading comics, and watching zombies on TV would make up for my lack of fitness, tar-caked lungs, and general cowardliness, but there you have it. If one thing is going to stick with me from Long Road Ahead it’s that I’m kidding myself — I’d be a …

If you’re a Linux user squarely in the Gnome desktop camp and sneer with disdain at the mention of Unity, there’s good news — your preferred flavor is coming, uncontaminated, to Ubuntu. Though “GNOMEBuntu” was originally floated as a name for the new environment, that idea was apparently kiboshed by the Gnome Foundation, leaving “GNOBuntu” and “Gnubuntu” as possible monikers, according to Mutkware. Neither Unity, nor cloud service Ubuntu One will be included in the distro, but you’ll find a library of apps pre-installed, including the Epiphany browser …

A free-to-play version of Gotham City Impostors apparently launched very quietly on Steam yesterday. Monolith Productions‘ multiplayer shooter, originally released for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC in February as a paid-for download, is now available to download onto PCs for free. What’s curious is there seems to be zero official word from Monolith or publisher Warner Bros. Interactive on the matter. What’s more, the game appeared as an unofficial listing on Steam’s Open Steamworks database earlier this week.
There are downloadable content packs listed on impostors‘ Steam page …

Borderlands 2‘s Sir Hammerlock offers a tour of the game’s world, mechanics, and characters in this lengthy, jaw-dropping trailer.
I had to pause halfway through and re-watch because I realized I wasn’t even listening to anything Hammerlock was saying. I get the feeling this trailer was captured on PC. I refuse to believe a console game can look this good. Luckily, I’ll be playing on PC. Unluckily, the game comes out September 18; the same week as Tokyo Game Show.
I had mixed feelings onthe first Borderlands but with refined …

One of the reasons professional athletes illegally use steroids is to help speed up their recovery time after a particularly grueling game or injury, thus making them fresh as spring chickens the next time they compete. But one of the goals of helping the body to recover is lowering core temperture, and Stanford believes that the heat-extracting glove they’re developing is so effective at lowering core body temperture that it might actually be better than steroids in speeding up recovery time. And it’s closer to being a readily available …

Nokia may have partnered with Monster for its last batch of Lumia-focused audio wares, but now JBL is also in on the deal. Say hello to first product from Nokia and JBL, the successor to the Play 360 portable speaker, dubbed PlayUp. The noiseybox is packed with Bluetooth and NFC, and as for the design, it’s made to complement “current and future Lumia smartphones.” Like the Play 360, the PlayUp is a cylindrical, top-shooting speaker with physical volume controls, a large power button near the bottom and a …

In theory, flight simulation games offer fans of the genre accurate flight controls with a diverse array of those amazing aircrafts they love so much, with powerful dogfights and skill helping push along a narrative worthy of their time. Damage Inc.: Pacific Squadron WWII aims to do just this, while having players relive the “greatest aerial battles” of the second World War.
Sadly, just like anyone who plays this title, it has difficulty hitting the target.

David Bateson will reprise the role of Agent 47 in Hitman Absolution, after it was revealed last year that IO Interactive dropped the long-serving voice actor. Square Enix confirmed the news yesterday, shortly after the above video of Bateson announcing his return found its way online. The video was on a USB key given to a fan by IO Interactive community manager Nick Price.
Bateson’s return was a struggle, with IO Interactive initially asking him to audition for a role he’d served since 2000 and Codename 47. Then, around this …
