This week’s Super Joystiq Podcast is totally into Sheryl Crow.
This week, Xav finally got his hands on a Wii U. Joined by JC, and Richard, the crew hits PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, and then it’s on to more Wii U thoughts and impressions. New Super Mario Bros. U gets some love, and ZombiU‘s roguelike nature almost gets the best of Xav.
In news, Alexander, Jordan, Mike Suszek, and Sinan, cover the big stories, but not before a little bit of Sheryl Crow appreciation, which will henceforth be known …

Jordan mentioned Primordia earlier today when talking about the latest games approved for Greenlight and it reminded me that Wadjet Eye Games has released a demo for their latest point-and-click adventure game, Primordia. I thought I’d mention it so you might consider downloading it if these kinds of titles tickle your fancy. Primordia is a science-fiction adventure set in a world where mankind disappeared long ago but our robotic creations carry on and continue to serve the purposes to which they were built. The concept is thought-provoking and I was pretty pumped after seeing the game’s prior …

As much as I enjoy collecting various limited editions of movies and games for the behind-the-scenes featurettes, I hardly ever get around to viewing them. After watching this trailer though, I would love to learn more about the process that went into Tomb Raider’s soundscape. That “instrument” is nuts!
The earthy and percussion-heavy tones help compliment the jungle environment and set this reboot apart from its raiding brethren, or sistren, as the case may be. I’ve never really been too interested in raiding tombs, but this one might be worth getting …

Microsoft brought its SmartGlass Xbox 360 second screen app to Android last month, however official support was limited to smartphones. While many found that sideloading got the app running on their other devices, an update today has officially added support for tablets of the 7-inch variety. There’s also fixes for specific crashes tied to the achievements and settings screens, but not much else. If you’ve been waiting to bring your Nexus 7 along as GPS in Forza Horizon or control tracks in Dance Central 3, hit the source …

Facebook and Zynga have worked out a new set of terms in their partnership, according to Reuters, that both leave Zynga responsible for following more of Facebook’s rules, but also leave the two parties open to making and promoting their own games as well. For a long time, Zynga and Facebook have maintained a close partnership, in that Zynga was required to use Facebook’s monetization platform, and Facebook couldn’t create its own titles to compete with Zynga’s. But the latest agreement undoes both of those rules, and opens up …

The fall of Communism and the break up of the Soviet Union was undoubtedly one of the most important events in the 20th century, and the culmination of the devastating Cold War. Lasting around 50 years, the world was witness to some of the most tense military and political situations in human history.
BL-Logic and Paradox Development Studio have taken the complex backdrop of this nerve-wracking era and crafted a new Hearts of Iron game focusing on the diplomatic, economic, and military issues so prevalent during this period. Amid the complicated systems, numbers, …

I enjoyed watching Robot Chicken on Adult Swim back in college, but it never felt like it had true staying power. Why new episodes are still being made, I have no clue. Then again, this is the same network that is still churning out Aqua Something You Know Whatever — which is seriously what that show is being called now.
As one of the co-producers for Robot Chicken, Sony probably had no trouble knocking on Seth Green’s door and saying, “Hey, you and your crew are going to make a PlayStation …

‘Tis the season for last-minute shipping updates, and not all of them justify some merrymaking. ASUS originally planned for its dual-screened TAICHI laptops to ship in November, but a company spokesperson tells PCWorld at the last minute that the Windows 8 showcase won’t ship sooner than December, and could slip further still. The PC builder doesn’t say why we’ll be twiddling our thumbs that much longer. Online retailers certainly aren’t waiting around for an answer — they’ve simply listed the myriad TAICHI variants as unavailable for now. Yes, …
