Rockstar has released the newest — and last — downloadable content pack for Max Payne 3, Deathmatch Made in Heaven. The DLC contains a new co-op mode, weapons, items, three additional multiplayer modes, and a single-player challenge.
I’ve been playing around with the new content for a few days now, and in that time I’ve only managed to get into a few matches. I was playing on the PC, so other platforms might have more people playing, but Max’s multiplayer is somewhat of a ghost town these days, sadly.

Prior to the recent round of hands-on previews, it would be fair to say that Splinter Cell: Blacklist had been suffering from a messaging problem with respect to its perceived focus on action at the expense of stealth and a certain infamous torture scene. Some would argue that it’s still an issue for the game, which appears to be garnering, at best, mixed reactions.
Commenting that properly conveying stealth on an E3 stage demonstration would have been tricky, Blacklist producer Andrew Wilson tells Eurogamer “We’ve scaled a lot of that [violence] …

Last weekend, Lotus 1-2-3 turned 30. It was widely regarded as the IBM PC’s first killer piece of software—a heady combination of spreadsheet, database, and graphics processor—and set the ball rolling for a whole world of productivity applications. But the best thing about it has to be this ad. More »

Our favorite Russian blogger, who’s admittedly often wrong on a few little things, says he has the low-down on a new Vertu smartphone coming in February. It’d be the first release since Nokia sold the luxury brand to a private equity firm last year, and Eldar Murtazin claims the rumored switch from Symbian to Android is definitely a go-er. He also reckons the handset will cost around $4,000, which is loose change compared to some previous Vertus — like the $27k model shown above. There are no further …

Hotline Miami is one violent, brutal game. It’s also a game where you wear various animal masks. Some cute, some scary, and some totally weird. Nothing brings fear to your enemies like a bunny mask!
Artist Mark Penman wanted to capture the spirit of all the masks and created this absolutely amazing piece of fanart. This needs to be a shirt like right now.

If you’re going to play something on Xbox Live Indie Games that doesn’t involve mining, it might as well be an organic, massively reactive, cellular strategy game from the principal writer of the original Deus Ex, Sheldon Pacotti. Cell: emergence takes place in the body of a sick child, where players inhabit a nanobot fighting the smart germs of futuristic biowarfare. It’s beautiful, for a battlefield.
Cell: emergence 1.1 drops on XBLIG today and is out for PC via Desura, both on sale for $1 through February 4. Version 1.1 …

[I thought I had read the most emotional blog the Destructoid community had to offer. Apparently I was mistaken. User Wrenchfarm shows us his interpretation of the events of Dark Souls and how they're analogous to his grandmother's decline into Alzheimer's. Want to be on the front page? Get blogging. --Spencer Hayes]
Grandma has been in a nursing home for 8 years now. I don’t like to visit.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Grandma but it’s a miserable place. The staff try their best to make it nice. Happy cartoon …

Dead Space 3‘s PC port will not have DirectX 11 support or HD textures, according to reports, to which developer Visceral Games says, so what?
“We continue to evolve our games as we develop them, but we certainly don’t target PC as something that’s going to be significantly different,” executive producer Steve Papoutsis said in an interview with Shack News. “We aren’t trying to create disparity in the experience that our gamers enjoy; we want to make sure everyone’s having that same experience.”
In the interview, Papoutsis takes a very literal stance …
