Shortly after launch, Dishonored sprung some mini-DLC on us with the Trials of Dunwall challenge pack. But fans wanted so much more than that. They wanted full sandboxes, more story, and more of the world to explore. Enter The Knife of Dunwall, a DLC pack that explores the man that murdered Dishonored‘s Empress, and framed the hero Corvo for his crime.
The DLC will consist of three missions, all of which are sandbox oriented, and have multiple paths — just like Dishonored‘s campaign. During my hour long hands-on with the game, I hit …

You’d be forgiven if you weren’t entirely on the same page with Panasonic regarding its micro color splitter sensor: it’s a big break from the traditional Bayer filter approach on digital cameras, and the deluge of text doesn’t do much to simplify the concept. Much to our relief, DigInfo TV has grilled Panasonic in a video that provides a more easily digestible (if still deep) interpretation. As the technology’s creator says, it’s all about the math. To let in so much light through the splitters requires processing the …

It’s been a long week. After spending last weekend in Boston at PAX East, a good chunk of the Joystiq crew flew to San Francisco to help y’all stay in the know on all the news from GDC. After a big trip like this, it’s easy to come home (as long as your flight isn’t delayed) and immediately crash on the nearest couch, falling into a deep sleep for the next week or so.
Rest assured, it’s back to our regularly-scheduled programming here at Joystiq, but I’ll be honest, I …

It may be Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk who will face off against the reptilian Gorn in the upcoming Star Trek: The Game, but it was William Shatner who first fought these scaly buggers back in Star Trek: The Original Series.
Shatner’s hilariously awkward scrap in “Arena” is one of the most iconic TV fight scenes, primarily for how absolutely awful it is. To promote the new game, the now portly ex-captain has a rematch against his old nemesis, and it’s just as well choreographed as their original battle.
Star Trek: The …

While it’s encouraging to see Hotline Miami break out onto further platforms with an upcoming PlayStation Network release for PS3 and Vita, I’m mostly just eager to hear more about the follow-up game that has briefly been talked about before. This week at the Game Developers Conference, Dennaton Games told Joystiq that this sequel will “[tackle] the more touchy-feely aspects of the early 90s” and feature “parallel plots built around the first game.”
The outlet was also told that the first title’s nameless protagonist (or “Jacket,” depending on how into Hotline Miami …

The eponymous “Smart car” has been buzzing around city streets in the US for over five years now. It’s actually called the Fortwo, thanks to its limited seating capacity, and while it didn’t prove to be an immediate hit, sales have been steadily increasing. An electric version of the car has been available in limited numbers overseas for years now, but finally this year it’s coming to the US. And this is it. We got a chance to drive a green vinyl-wrapped Smart Electric Drive around some city …

Just two months ago, DmC: Devil May Cry was released and caused quite a ruckus. While this unique entry in the Devil May Cry franchise didn’t exactly light up the charts, and remains a contentious title with series fans, at the very least it’s difficult to not admire the detail and creativeness with the art direction.
At GDC, Ninja Theory’s Art Director, Alessandro Taini, spoke at a panel about the challenges of creating a new visual style for this reboot, and of course the many different designs they had to go …
