For most gamers, nine or so years between the release of Diablo II expansion Lord of Destruction and the pending Diablo III is just too damned long.

As in, “treasure,” only with a thick accent. Scott Ramsoomair always seems to have the magic touch; once again, his VG Cats strip claims the top spot of this week’s webcomic wrapup. Out of all the things our Fable 2 dog has discovered in the grounds of Albion, this makes a lot more sense than, say, a shiny hat.
Second and third place go to Tough Times (Luke Surl Comics) and Fixing an Election (2P Start). Thanks to everyone who voted, as well as for all the logos (and your opinion/critiques thereof). Be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Blizzard won’t be churning out content for World of Warcraft until the sky rips in half and the ground begins bubbling blood. In the meantime, it looks as though Blizzard is quite content with putting out expansions through the global warming crisis. In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime confirmed that his company wouldn’t toss out content for WoW forever, but will strive to “decrease the amount of time in between expansions.”
From the interview:
[O]ur goal that we’ve talked about is to put out an annual expansion, but we haven’t quite been able to do that. We’d one early last year and now we’re sort of late this year, but we do want to decrease the amount of time in between expansions. Although we’ll probably never get it down to a year [between each one] because there’s just so much content. We do want each expansion to be considered a massive value for players.
While I don’t play WoW, I can only imagine this is music to the MMO fan’s ears. How many of you think you’ll still be playing this for the next few years? Are you glad that Blizzard will continue to support it and are obviously willing to consider it a viable title years down the road?

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was released on November 13, and not only has someone reached the level cap, but one kid has already managed to make himself sick over it.
A 15-year-old gamer from Sweden needed the help of rescue services after a heavy Lich King session caused him to go into convulsions. It is believed that a lack of food and sleep deprivation caused the boy’s downfall.

Can you imagine Left 4 Dead without co-op? At this point, it would be like Street Fighter without a versus mode, or Keith Vaz without the the complete and total ignorance. Strangely enough, however, this co-op game began life without co-op even being a factor.
“Originally we’d what would be considered Versus mode now: that was the main game. There was no separate Co-op,” explains Valve’s Chet Faliszek. “What we found was that we wanted to make the highs and lows of the co-op experience more distinct. [We had] this problem that if the infected pound on the survivors then their reward for kicking their butt would be, ‘Hey you don’t get to spawn for 60 seconds because we want to have this really huge lull.’ Well, that’s not a good reward.
“At some point we separated the two… The splitting of those in the process is probably the biggest change we’ve made. It’s really helped define the game.”
Funny the way things turn out, isn’t it?
